Job Purpose (Significance of the role & Objectives)
Responsible for designing and developing automated production systems -- from concept to implementation -- that improve efficiency, quality, and scalability of manufacturing operations. This role bridges mechanical, electrical, and control disciplines to design how machines physically and logically operate together.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
Develop automation concepts for Battery assembly lines, Special process, testing, and material handling.
Evaluate manual processes and propose automation solutions (Material selections, robots, conveyors, jigs, etc.)
Prepare process flow diagrams, layout, and cycle time calculations.
Define specifications for PLCs, sensors, actuators, robots, and vision systems
Select appropriate automation components (drives, pneumatics, safety systems)
Work with mechanical and electrical design teams to ensure systems integrate seamlessly
Design control panels, wiring layouts, and interface points with existing equipment
Coordinate with machine builders, automation vendors, and MES/IT teams.
Review and approve machine designs, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), and SAT (Site Acceptance Test)
Analyze cycle times, bottlenecks, and implement continuous improvement
Support line balancing and ergonomic design
Prepare design documentation (BOMs, schematics, SOPs, safety validation)
Ensure designs meet safety and industrial standards (ISO 13849, IEC 60204, etc.).
Desired Qualifications: Required Qualification, Knowledge, and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics / Electrical / Mechanical / Automation Engineering (Master's preferred).
3-7 years in industrial automation, preferably in battery pack, EV, or electronics manufacturing
Strong understanding of automation system design and integration.
Experience with PLCs, robotics, servo systems, and motion control
Familiarity with EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks, NX
Understanding of MES and traceability systems
Knowledge of safety and electrical standards
Project management, vendor communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and analytical thinking.
