Interpreting Design Data

: Reviewing and analyzing specifications, sketches, orthographic views, and engineering calculations to understand project requirements.

Creating Accurate Isometric Drawings

: Producing detailed 2D isometric drawings that represent three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface, ensuring all components and their relationships are accurately depicted.

Utilizing AutoCAD Tools

: Effectively using specific AutoCAD tools and commands for isometric drawing, such as ISODRAFT, ISOPLANE (F5 key to switch planes), and isometric snap settings to maintain precision.

Detailing and Annotation

: Applying appropriate dimensions, notes, labels, and leaders to drawings, ensuring they adhere to industry standards (e.g., 1st or 3rd angle projection standards).

Piping System Design (Specific to Plant Design)

: For roles in industrial sectors, a major responsibility is creating detailed piping isometric drawings (isometrics) which are used for fabrication and installation of complex piping systems in plants and infrastructure projects.

Coordination and Problem Solving

: Collaborating with engineers and other disciplines (structural, electrical, mechanical) to coordinate designs, resolve clashes, and ensure design integrity.

Revising and Modifying

: Modifying and revising designs to correct operational deficiencies or address production issues, keeping all documentation current.

Quality Control

: Performing self-checks and potentially supervising the work of junior draftspersons to ensure accuracy, cleanliness, and adherence to established drafting standards.
