The Australian Tax Accountant will be responsible for managing tax compliance, financial reporting, bookkeeping, and advisory support for a diverse portfolio of clients. The role requires strong knowledge of Australian taxation laws, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software such as Xero and MYOB. You will ensure accurate lodgements, maintain compliance, and support clients across individuals, companies, partnerships, and trusts.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and lodge annual income tax returns for individuals, companies, partnerships, and trusts in line with Australian statutory requirements.
• Draft and manage client communication related to tax matters, information requests, and documentation follow-ups.
• Develop comprehensive workpapers by referencing tax returns, trial balances, and supporting financial documents.
• Review, reconcile, and validate client accounting data in Xero, MYOB, and Excel to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare special purpose financial statements for companies, partnerships, and trusts.
• Manage bookkeeping duties including bank reconciliations, journal entries, and invoice processing.
• Administer weekly payroll processing through Xero with accuracy, confidentiality, and adherence to regulations.
• Prepare and lodge BAS and IAS within required timelines and ensure compliance with GST and PAYG regulations.
• Assist with family trust distribution calculations, income tax estimates, and associated compliance tasks.
• Support business advisory work involving GST, CGT, FBT, and Division 7A requirements.
• Maintain well-organized, compliant, and audit-ready financial records.
