Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Audit professional to perform

financial audits, HUD audits, and not-for-profit audits

in compliance with applicable regulatory and professional standards. The role involves planning and executing audit engagements, preparing working papers, identifying risks, and ensuring compliance with GAAP, HUD, and other regulatory requirements.

Key ResponsibilitiesAudit & Assurance

Plan, execute, and complete

financial statement audits

in accordance with GAAP and applicable auditing standards (GAAS). Perform

HUD audits

in compliance with HUD Handbook requirements and Uniform Guidance, where applicable. Conduct

Not-for-Profit (NFP) audits

, including compliance with donor restrictions, grants, and fund accounting. Prepare audit programs, working papers, and financial statements. Identify audit risks, internal control deficiencies, and areas for process improvement. Perform substantive testing and analytical procedures. Ensure audits are completed within established timelines and budgets.

Compliance & Reporting

Ensure compliance with

HUD regulations

, federal and state laws, and nonprofit reporting requirements. Assist in preparing audit reports, management letters, and compliance reports. Review financial statements and disclosures for accuracy and completeness. Support single audits and grant compliance testing, if applicable.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in

Accounting, Finance, or related field

2-5+ years of experience in

financial audits

, including

HUD and/or Not-for-Profit audits

Strong understanding of

GAAP

, auditing standards, and internal controls Experience with HUD regulations and nonprofit accounting preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and audit software Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred Experience with

Single Audits (Uniform Guidance)

Public accounting experience Familiarity with accounting software used by nonprofits or housing authorities
