Assessment and Diagnosis:Conduct hearing tests, interpret results, and diagnose hearing loss, tinnitus, and balance disorders.
Treatment and Management:Manage hearing loss by selecting, fitting, and programming hearing aids and cochlear implants.
Rehabilitation:Provide audiologic rehabilitation, help patients with tinnitus, and manage central auditory processing disorders.
Prevention:Counsel patients on hearing safety and manage programs for hearing loss prevention.
Device Management:Make ear impressions and manage the removal of excessive earwax.
Newborn Screening:Supervise and conduct newborn hearing screening programs.
Assessment and Diagnosis:Identify and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
Treatment and Therapy:Conduct speech therapy sessions and develop personalized treatment plans to improve communication.
Swallowing Therapy:Support and care for individuals with difficulties eating, drinking, and swallowing.
Support for Communication Devices:Provide support for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems.
Family Education:Train and counsel parents and families on home-based therapies and ways to manage their conditions.
Shared Responsibilities (for both roles)
Patient Counseling:Provide counseling and support to patients and their families.
Documentation:Maintain meticulous records of patient evaluations, treatments, and outcomes.
Collaboration:Work with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic patient care.
Professional Development:Stay updated on the latest research, advancements, and best practices.
Referrals:Refer patients and families to other medical or educational services when needed.
