Key Responsibilities1. Plant Operation & Process Monitoring
Operate and monitor plant equipment such as reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, centrifuges, filters, dryers, pumps, compressors, etc.
Assist in starting, shutting down, and maintaining stable operation of the unit under the guidance of a shift in-charge.
Check process parameters (temperature, pressure, flow, level, pH, density, etc.) and record readings at defined intervals.
Load and unload raw materials, intermediates, and finished products as per SOP.
Maintain accurate log sheets, production reports, and shift handover notes.
2. Safety, Health & Environment
Follow all plant safety protocols, PPE usage, permit-to-work systems, and emergency response procedures.
Handle hazardous chemicals safely as per MSDS guidelines.
Report unsafe acts, near-miss incidents, equipment abnormalities, or leakages immediately.
Support housekeeping and ensure compliance with ISO, OSHA, and environmental standards.
3. Equipment Handling & Maintenance Support
Check equipment performance and report issues such as vibrations, unusual noise, leakages, or temperature rise.
Assist maintenance teams during routine and breakdown maintenance.
Ensure equipment cleanliness, lubrication checks, and basic preventive care.
4. Batch/Continuous Process Operations
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for batch charging, sampling, transferring, blending, and packaging.
Collect samples and coordinate with the QC lab for product quality testing.
Ensure accurate weighing and charging of raw materials.
Maintain process discipline to achieve yield and quality targets.
5. Documentation & Compliance
Maintain updated logbooks, checklists, safety forms, and production records.
Ensure compliance with internal audits, safety audits, and quality checks.
Follow GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) where applicable.
Required Qualifications & SkillsEducation
ITI - Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant)
OR Diploma in Chemical Engineering / B.Sc. Chemistry (preferred but optional)
Experience
0-3 years of experience in a chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, agrochemical, or similar process plant.
Freshers with ITI (AOCP) are also eligible.
Technical Skills
Basic understanding of process operations and chemical reactions.
Exposure to pumps, valves, agitators, and instrumentation devices.
Ability to read process flow diagrams (PFDs) and follow SOPs.
Basic computer and data-entry skills.
Soft Skills
Discipline, teamwork, and communication skills.
Ability to work in shifts and under pressure.
Attention to detail and strong safety mindset.
