is seeking a passionate and qualified

Assistant Professor

to join the

Department of History & Mass Communication & Journalism

. The ideal candidate should be capable of teaching

both History and Journalism

at the undergraduate (and possibly postgraduate) level. Candidates with academic qualifications in

both disciplines

(e.g., Graduation in History and Post graduation in Journalism/Mass Communication or vice versa) are encouraged to apply.

The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering lectures, conducting practical sessions, supervising student projects, engaging in research, and contributing to academic and administrative responsibilities within the department.

Key Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate courses in

History

and

Mass Communication & Journalism

, including: Journalism Broadcasting Public Relations Advertising Digital & Social Media Media Production Indian and World History (as applicable) Design and deliver curriculum, lesson plans, assignments, and lab work. Evaluate student performance through tests, assignments, presentations, and practicals. Guide students on research projects, internships, and media productions. Conduct academic research and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Organize departmental activities such as workshops, guest lectures, and training programs. Participate in curriculum development, academic planning, and faculty meetings. Contribute to administrative tasks such as admissions, documentation, LMS management, and accreditation processes. Mentor students academically and professionally.

Qualifications Essential:

Must have :

Graduate and Postgraduate qualifications in

History

and

Mass Communication & Journalism

, in either of the following combinations:

Graduation in History

+

Post graduation in MJMC

(Mass Communication / Journalism), or

Graduation in MJMC

+

Post

graduation in History

Minimum 55% marks in both degrees. UGC-NET / SLET / SET qualification in either subject OR a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline.

Desirable:

Ph.D. in Mass Communication, Journalism, or History. Teaching experience at UG/PG level in History or Mass Communication. Industry experience in journalism, media, PR, or broadcasting. Research publications in indexed or peer-reviewed journals. Proficiency in digital media tools and editing software (e.g., Adobe Suite, Final Cut Pro). Practical experience in video production and editing.

Skills & Attributes

Proficiency in

Adobe Premiere Pro

and camera handling. Strong video editing and digital media production skills. Solid understanding of both historical and media studies content. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and classroom management abilities. Time-management and organizational efficiency. Collaborative approach to academic and industry engagement. Passion for teaching, mentoring, and continuous learning.
