The Purchaser is responsible for managing the procurement of pharmaceutical products, medical supplies, and related inventory for the pharmacy. This role ensures timely availability of stock, maintains vendor relations, negotiates pricing, and monitors inventory levels to support smooth operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Source, negotiate, and purchase medicines, surgical items, and consumables from approved suppliers.
Verify and compare purchase orders with stock requirements and sales trends.
Maintain and update vendor databases and ensure compliance with company and legal requirements.
Monitor inventory levels to avoid overstocking or stockouts.
Ensure timely follow-up for order confirmations, dispatches, and deliveries.
Coordinate with the accounts department for timely payment and documentation.
Review purchase bills and ensure accuracy in pricing, quantity, and GST details.
Maintain records of all purchase orders, supplier invoices, and correspondence.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising product quality.
Stay updated on new products, market prices, and alternative suppliers.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Sound knowledge of pharmaceutical products and purchase procedures.
Excellent record-keeping and documentation skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel and inventory management software.
Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
Qualification & Experience:
Education:
B.Pharm / D.Pharm / Graduate in Commerce or Supply Chain Management.
Experience:
Minimum 2-4 years of experience in pharmacy or hospital purchasing.
Preferred:
Experience with vendor management and pharmaceutical procurement systems.
