We're looking for an experienced Android engineer with deep expertise in ExoPlayer/Media3 and strong command over the Android framework, who thrives in a hybrid role -- leading cross-functional initiatives while also diving deep into code to deliver high-performance, scalable solutions.

, contribute to architecture decisions, and drive collaboration across engineering, product, and QA.

What You'll Do

Lead

the design and implementation of advanced media playback workflows using

ExoPlayer (Media3)

, ensuring low latency, seamless buffering, adaptive streaming, and DRM integrations. Drive

performance improvements

across app launch, playback, memory, and battery. Collaborate closely with product managers, iOS/web counterparts, backend, and QA to build delightful and robust video experiences. Mentor and guide a team of Android engineers -- promote clean architecture, code quality, and modern development practices. Contribute individually to high-priority feature development and performance debugging. Stay ahead of Android platform updates and

integrate Jetpack libraries

, modern UI frameworks, and best practices (e.g., Kotlin Coroutines, Hilt, Jetpack Compose, Paging, etc.) Own cross-functional technical discussions for media strategy, caching, telemetry, offline, or A/V compliance.

What We're Looking For

10-15 years of Android development experience with strong fundamentals in

Kotlin

,

ExoPlayer/Media3

, and the

Android media framework

. Deep understanding of streaming protocols (HLS/DASH), adaptive bitrate streaming, DRM (Widevine), and analytics tagging. Experience in

performance optimization

- memory, power, cold start, and playback smoothness. Hands-on with modern Android stack: Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Flows, WorkManager, ViewModel, Room, Hilt/Dagger, etc. Familiarity with CI/CD, app modularization, crash analytics, and A/B experimentation frameworks (e.g., Firebase, AppCenter, etc.). Comfortable navigating ambiguity -- can switch gears between

IC and leadership responsibilities

based on the team's needs. Strong communication skills and ability to

collaborate across teams and functions

.

Nice to Have

Experience with Android TV / Fire TV or other large-screen form factors. Prior work on live streaming, low latency playback, or sports content. Familiarity with AV1, Dolby Vision/Atmos, or advanced video/audio codecs. Contributions to open-source media libraries or ExoPlayer itself.
