JOIN OUR MARINE DEPARTMENT IN CHENNAI
The Marine Department of COWI, India is undertaking projects from both international and domestic markets and offers a comprehensive range of consulting services related to the development of ports, harbours, coastal and marine structures etc. COWI Marine department is supporting their clients to draw a detailed picture of any consequences on the built and natural environment arising from the development/installation of any port, marine, coastal project.

A POSITION THAT WILL PUSH YOUR DEVELOPMENT FURTHER
As Associate Technical Director, you will join our global team of experts and work closely with our regional Marine leadership. Your primary tasks will be providing high-level, senior technical expertise to projects and developing and implementing strategic initiatives to improve the COWI's engineering practices. You will contribute to the identification, recruitment, and development of technical talent for Marine Structures in COWI.

As an Associate Technical Director (Approximately 65%), you will:

• Perform tasks on projects requiring a broad and/or deep knowledge in a field of expertise
• Develop and implement best design practices in areas of expertise - especially related to concrete design of marine jetties / bridge structures
• Lead strategic initiatives as delegated by the VP
• Develop technical talent, including development and implementation of specialist training programs, identification of staff for advanced and/or specialized training, and mentoring of key staff in the specialized area of expertise
• Develop technical networks outside of COWI, including participation in technical conferences, publishing and presenting technical papers.
• Ensure quality of deliverables and provide technical expertise in the field of structural analysis and design of marine structures.
• Prepare the pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, detailed project reports, bid document preparation and selection of contractors while working for Owners/Developers
• Lead tender, basic and detailed design of Port, Harbour & Marine structures with associated landside facilities, while working for EPC contractors

As a Project Manager (Approximately 25%), you will:

• Manage assigned projects
• Carry out project management duties in accordance with the Company Quality System including, but not be limited to project scheduling, resource management, project budget controls, and client sub-contractor management and interfacing.

As a BD Account Manager (Approximately 10%), you will:

• Provide leadership in business development and marketing activities for COWI including identifying, tracking, positioning, and pursuing
• project opportunities, and representing the Company in external settings including technical committees, conferences, seminars, professional bodies, and business groups
• Build and leverage a network of engineering and construction partners to position for transportation projects
• Be responsible for developing and maintaining relations with specified key clients.

As a part of the Regional Management Team, you will:

• Participate in periodic strategy meetings and contributes to the development and achievement of COWI India and the COWI Group's strategic objectives; and
• Contribute to ensuring that COWI India delivers marine projects with a high quality.

To succeed in this position, we believe that you should be self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. You should come with strong organizational and time management skills along with excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

You shall hold a formal education in structural engineering, an advanced degree, i.e., Ph.D. or Masters degree is preferred.

Furthermore, you should:

• Have around 20 years of previous related engineering, project management, and business development experience with an emphasis on design, construction, maintenance, and rehabilitation of structures
• Be an expert in structural design of reinforced concrete structures - ideally with a deep knowledge of marine and/or bridge super-structures and sub-structures..
• Have knowledge of other inter-related disciplines like Geotechnical engineering, Material handling, Mechanical and Electrical design including piping, civil infrastructure like roads, drainage, etc.
• Have good theoretical knowledge in Structural Engineering. Also, you have good knowledge in design of variety of marine structures like Jetties, Berths, Dolphins, design of bulk & container yards and associated onshore facilities.
• Have experience working on structural analysis software like STAAD Pro, SAP, ROBOT, ABACUS, Sofistik etc. Experience in Parametric design for structures will be an added advantage.
• Actively participate in National and International professional societies
• Have experience and reputation with local clients such as various government organizations, local municipalities, contractors, and engineering partners. Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Know how to contribute to proposals and review technical scope
• Be able to work with staff located remotely and willing to travel occasionally for client meetings
