Description Burns & McDonnell India has an exciting opportunity for Packaging Engineer interested in growing their careers in one of the fast-paced company involved in high tech building design and construction. We are multi-discipline team that provides engineering services for facilities projects in the North America region which includes facilities including hyperscale data centers, food & consumer product, pharmaceutical, life sciences, healthcare, manufacturing, airports, and institutional facilities. The Lead Packaging Engineer will be responsible for handling packaging projects in the North America region by collaborating with US packaging engineer. As the work quantum continues to grow, the Lead Packaging Engineer will be responsible to grow the team in Mumbai by hiring resources locally. Job Duties: Packaging Engineer will be responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard mechanical engineering techniques and procedures. This includes standard design of mechanical systems, and other duties as assigned. Scope of work includes the following areas: o Product handling systems (Belt, bucket, vibratory and pneumatic conveying systems for solid materials Pump and piped connections for liquid materials) o Primary Packaging Equipment (Unscramblers, Fillers, Placers, Cappers, Scales, Labelers, Sleevers, Checkweighers, Coders, Metal Detectors, Equipment, Accumulators) o Secondary Packaging Equipment (Cartoners, Bundler, Case Packers, Case Erectors, Case Loaders, Case Sealers, Case Coders, Case Labelers, Accumulators) o Tertiary Packaging Equipment (Palletizers, Stretch Wrappers, Labelers) o Conveying Equipment (Tabletop, Belt, Roller, CDLR, Chain) Oversee, guide, and manage newly assigned packaging engineers in the complete packaging development process, including the creation of packaging designs as well as prototype development. Troubleshoot new and existing packaging problems involving designs, materials and processes and provide creative, timely, and cost- effective solutions. Lead and support the analysis of engineering drawings and specification of products to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling, environmental and safety requirements, and types of materials required for packaging. Specify and recommend efficienct tools and test methods to develop and validate packaging designs. Provide leadership to the team direct and coordinate work assignments and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff. Provide expert level technical, design guidance and support. Achieve set targets and standards for financial performance. Recruitment, development, training, and retention of staff. Responsible for overall QA/QC process adherence. Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies. Responsible for diversity initiatives. May coordinate departmental or divisional project studies, reports, or project design assignments. Progressive design and project management responsibilities. Regularly meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree in engineering from an accredited program. Master\'s level is preferred. Minimum 7 years related professional experience in packaging/logistics. Previous leadership and/or management experience is preferable. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients. Ability to influence, lead, and manage change thoughtfully and positively. Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Basic knowledge in standard mechanical engineering techniques, principles and procedures. Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively mentor and provide career and technical guidance, particularly to entry-level staff. Experience with Flexsim software or similar packing simulation tools is a plus. Experience with Revit or similar 3D modeling software is preferred. Must be an expert in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
