Associate Senior Computational Fluid Dynamics (cfd) Specialist Gfs

Year    MH, IN, India

Job Description

Description

Burns & McDonnell India offers an exciting opportunity for a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Specialist to grow their career with one of the fastest-paced companies in high-tech building design and construction.

We are a multidisciplinary team providing engineering services for projects across North America and Europe, including hyperscale data centres, food and consumer products, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, healthcare, manufacturing, airports, and institutional facilities.

The Lead Computational Fluid Dynamics Specialist will be responsible for completing CFD modelling for projects assigned by our UK and USA based CFD Team, working closely with the CFD Team Manager for planning and coordination, and reporting to the Mechanical Section Manager (Mission Critical) in Mumbai.

Join our growing team as an Associate Senior CFD Specialist, where you will lead the development and execution of advanced CFD simulations for data centre design and optimisation. You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and CFD engineers across India, the UK, and USA to define challenges, develop models, and deliver data-driven solutions that enhance thermal management, energy efficiency, and system performance.

This position offers opportunities to contribute to global innovation initiatives and advance into technical leadership roles within our expanding CFD practice.

Key Responsibilities

Build and manage complex CFD models for data centres, from geometry clean-up and meshing to simulation, post-processing, and interpretation. Lead CFD analyses throughout all project phases, ensuring quality, accuracy, and client satisfaction. Apply advanced fluid dynamics and heat transfer principles to real-world challenges in thermal management, HVAC, and external aerodynamics. Ensure QA/QC compliance, manage deadlines, and maintain clear communication across multidisciplinary and multi-office teams. Prepare and present high-quality technical reports and visualisations for clients, stakeholders, and industry publications. Collaborate with the UK CFD Team and other global offices (UK, USA, BMI) to share knowledge and strengthen internal CFD capabilities. Manage and develop intellectual property related to CFD tools, workflows, and best practices. Integrate weather data and environmental parameters into boundary conditions for external flow and ventilation studies. Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement in modelling workflows and automation. Occasionally adjust work hours to coordinate with international teams (UK/US time zones).

Qualifications

Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering (PhD preferred). Minimum 7 years of professional CFD experience in a commercial or consulting environment. Strong foundation in fluid mechanics and heat transfer, with hands-on experience in both steady-state and transient CFD. Proficiency with one or more major CFD tools: Cadence Reality DC (6Sigma), STAR-CCM , ANSYS Fluent, or OpenFOAM. Familiarity with CAD and BIM tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, or Rhino for geometry preparation and integration. Experience with Python scripting or similar tools for process automation and data post-processing (preferred). Knowledge of experimental validation, reduced-order modelling, or data-driven verification techniques (a plus). Strong analytical, communication, and technical reporting skills with the ability to explain complex simulation results to diverse audiences. Proven ability to lead projects, influence decisions, and drive innovation within a multidisciplinary engineering environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with exceptional attention to detail and presentation quality. Understanding of data centre design (preferred). Experience collaborating on global projects and working effectively across time zones and cultures.
This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled.
