About the IIHS Academic Programmes and Schools





India's urban transition is unprecedented in scale and complexity. Within it lie both the opportunities of increased economic growth and employment as well as the challenges of persistent inequality, extreme deprivation and environmental degradation. IIHS' academic programmes aim to foster a new generation of urban practitioners and change makers, to become part of shaping this transition.





The academic programmes are supported by the five interdisciplinary IIHS Schools: School of Environment and Sustainability (SES), School of Systems and Infrastructure (SSI), School of Economic Development (SED), School of Human Development (SHD) and School of Governance (SoG). Each School has a particular transformational theme and a set of teaching, research and practice projects and programmes within it. Collectively, the five schools systematically address a wide range of urban issues, from questions of livelihood and economic development, access to basic infrastructure, affordable housing and healthcare for all, to tackling climate change and land governance.








IIHS is seeking a proactive and process-oriented individual to support the administrative processes for the design and delivery of the Under-graduate degree programme/s at the IIHS (Institution Deemed to be) University. The role covers a broad spectrum of responsibilities ranging from managing the curriculum design process to supporting the seamless launch and delivery of the academic programmes in coordination with various institutional teams.





This role integrates both academic and operational coordination, offering a unique opportunity to work closely with faculty, researchers, students, and staff in a dynamic, practice-oriented learning environment.





This could be either a regular position or a 11- month contractual engagement, renewable on mutual consent, with the potential to turn into a regular position over time.




Activities and Tasks





Responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:


Process management - Curriculum research and development + Assisting in managing the curriculum research and design process for the proposed UG degree programmes;
+ Coordinating between subject matter experts, faculty members, registrar's office and various institutional teams in the curriculum design process leading to the launch of the academic programme;
+ Supporting the logistics, planning and facilitation of events, convenings and immersion visits that will guide the curriculum development and launch process;
+ Coordinating with various institutional teams to manage budgets, logistics, communication and documentation of the process;
Academic Administration: + Assisting in managing administrative processes for Undergraduate programmes, including electives and dissertation terms, in collaboration with students and faculty;
+ Assisting in day-to-day academic operations, including management, coordination and data management;
+ Managing multiple calendars for academic classes, curricular and extracurricular activities, and IIHS events, ensuring timely updates and effective communication of any changes;
+ Providing logistical support for field visits, labs, guest lectures, and workshops, as required for the academic programmes;
+ Coordinating extracurricular activities and alumni engagement with relevant university teams;
+ Liaising with the University placement/ internship cell to support student career development;
+ Assisting in documentation, reporting, and maintaining internal records:
- Student records and progression tracking;
- Faculty data;
- Curriculum tracking and feedback;
- Rankings and accreditation data;
- Reports/ documentation of University events/ meetings and any other documents for functioning and quality compliance;
+ Coordinating with University teams to effectively manage academic infrastructure and people resources;
+ Assisting in institutional branding initiatives including website updates, newsletters, marketing/ academic collaterals;
+ Overseeing programme budgets and routine financial matters including vendor management; performing basic book-keeping functions, which may involve billing, creating purchase requests, responding to invoices and handling cash receipt and payment processes on the ERP;
+ Liaising between the Programme Office, other IIHS teams (e.g., Career Development, Communications and Design), and external partners; assisting with timely submission of materials to central teams (Communications and Design, HR, IT, etc.).
Institutional: + Providing support to other IIHS activities, including academics, research, training, practice, operations and others;
+ Participating in all activities of Institution-building at IIHS; carrying out tasks as assigned by IIHS; and travelling on IIHS work within or outside the country as needed.



Structure and Reporting





This position will report to the Senior Manager - Systems and Infrastructure (SSI) at IIHS and will be required to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of internal teams and external individuals/ organisations, and students.




Person Specification





The ideal candidate should have:


A Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Education, or a related field, with 4+ years of relevant experience; candidates with a Bachelor's degree and 7-8 years of relevant experience may also be considered; A background in disciplines aligned with the IIHS's focus areas and exposure to interdisciplinary teaching-learning environments -- this would be an advantage, though not mandatory; Experience in academic operations: student/ faculty administration, event coordination, and institutional compliance (rankings, accreditation, etc.) in a higher education institution -- this would be an added advantage; Strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and administrative staff; Experience and proficiency in project management -- ability to plan, track, and follow through on tasks and timelines across multiple stakeholders, basic financial management, and data management; Prior experience in supporting communication and outreach activities, including preparing materials and coordinating dissemination, which will be a further advantage; Experience in event coordination and logistics will be useful; The willingness to travel, and the ability to adapt to dynamic institutional needs.




This could be either a regular position or a 11- month contractual engagement, renewable on mutual consent, with the potential to turn into a regular position over time. This offer is on an exclusive basis, which implies that other professional assignments (whether compensated or not) that bear a potential conflict of interest with IIHS cannot be undertaken.

Location





This position is based in Bengaluru and may entail travel to other locations in India.

The role and performance of the incumbent shall be subject to normal review and assessment systems at IIHS.
