About the Role:

The Record to Report (R2R) Associate will play a crucial role within the OSTTRA Finance Team, focusing specifically on the accurate and timely closure of operating costs in the ledger. This position requires a good understanding of the underlying business and accounting principles, along with a keen attention to detail to support the integrity of financial records. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the preparation and posting of month-end journals (Accruals, Prepayments, Provisions, Reclassification), Reconciliations & Substantiation.

Responsibilities and Impact:



Role and responsibilities of an Associate - Record to Report

The Associate is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely closure of general ledger encompassing several duties, including but not limited to:

Month-End Close: Responsible for preparing and posting the recurring and ad hoc month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments, reclassifications, and provisions, ensuring adherence to the month-end closing calendar. Reporting: Assisting the manager in creating and maintaining the reports in SAP to support the management reporting. Internal Controls: Executing month-end processes in compliance with local policies and the internal financial control process at OSTTRA. Reconciliation & Substantiation: Supporting sub-ledger to general ledger reconciliation and preparing substantiation files for month-end journals and balance sheet accounts related to operating costs to ensure accuracy. Audit Support: Supporting internal and external audit requirements by gathering, organizing, and providing clear documentation. Process Improvement: Proactively identifying opportunities to enhance and streamline accounting processes, leveraging automation and best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy. Initiatives / Projects: Assisting manager by supplying the underlying dataset to support the initiatives or projects related to system changes / business drivers. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with immediate team members and internal finance functions (e.g., Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Fixed Assets & Revenue) to resolve operational queries and ensure timely data flow.

Basic Required Qualifications:



To be successful in this role, the Record to Report Associate must possess a mix of Technical & Professional competencies. They must be adept at:

Experience: 4-6 years of relevant experience in an accounting or finance role, with demonstrated experience in general ledger and month-end closing activities. Accounting Acumen: Fundamental understanding of accounting principles (US GAAP) and experience with operating costs accounting is an added advantage. Teamwork: A collaborative and cooperative attitude, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to highlight the operational / financial information clearly in daily huddle / team meetings. Analytical skills: Good ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, and explain variances. Attention to Detail: A meticulous and accurate approach to preparing and reviewing financial data, reconciliations, and journal entries. Problem-solving: Proactive and solution-oriented mindset for identifying and flagging operational issues.

Technological proficiency:

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, advanced formulas) and experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).



Qualifications:



Graduate in Finance, MBA Finance is preferred. Experience with month-end close procedures and financial reporting.
