BU Description:

Localization COE at BMC is part of the Product Line Common Services team in India. The Associate Project Manager is responsible for managing and executing localization / translation projects for multiple languages and across BUs. The role also entails performing Localization Engineering and DTP related tasks. The project manager interfaces with BMC employees, partners, and customers, as well as localization vendors.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end L10N project management from initiation to closure.
  • Participate in product staff and stakeholder meetings (from release planning to retrospective) throughout the software development lifecycle regarding localization (L10N) and translation.
  • Gather L10N and translation requirements and project information from product teams, and maintain up-to-date project management information on Confluence wiki, JIRA, etc.
  • Work with R&D stakeholders, IDD and vendor side technical team on the technology aspects and localization readiness. Work with product teams and L10N vendor to manage term bases (terminology glossaries). Work with BMC employee in-country reviewers, product teams, and L10N vendor to ensure quality of localized UI and translated documents.
  • Submit source files (jobs) to the L10N vendor via the translation management system (TMS), manage translation queries, and deliver translated files to product teams. Manage hand-off and hand-backs with vendor and internal team.
  • Manage product documentation translation (Confluence wiki) via the TMS and prepare final deliverables. Maintain process documentation (Scroll Translations and other Confluence plugins)
  • Work with R&D and QA teams, as well as L10N vendor, to analyze and resolve L10N defects (functional and linguistic)
  • Manage linguistic QAs (LQAs) with R&D and QA teams, as well as with L10N vendor (meetings, defect tracking and fixes, etc.)
  • Perform DTP QA checks.
  • Provide L10N training to various teams across the enterprise.
  • Participate in company level and team initiatives involving cross team collaboration.
  • Assist in research and development of new localization processes and tools, including artificial intelligence / machine translation, translation automation, etc.
Required Skills: Functional & Technical Skills
  • 3 to 5 years of experience with translation/localization project, processes, and tools (TMS, CAT, Workflow Orchestrator, Website localization platforms, TM (Translation Memory) server, terminology platform, etc.)
  • Hands on experience in localization engineering and Desktop Publishing tasks
  • Experience in Localization engineering activities, tools admin, technical support, compliance checks, record keeping and assist Program Manager on tasks related to new initiatives [MOU2] [MOU3]
  • Familiarity with eLearning and media tools (e.g., Camtasia, Adobe Suite, Articulate)
  • Familiarity with CMS (Content Management Systems), LMS (Learning Management Systems) Source Code management System (e.g., Github), Salesforce.com
  • Familiarity with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and Agile methodologies
  • Experience with defect tracking systems (e.g., JIRA)
  • Familiarity with i18n standards and testing
  • Should be willing to work in EMEA hours - 12.30 PM to 9.30 PM
Soft Skills:
  • Ability to perform compliance checks and Tools Admin role.
  • Clear and effective communicator (written and verbal) for communication with stakeholders across BMC, partners, customers, and localization vendor teams.
  • Creative problem solving of functional and technical problems.
  • Ability to focus on deadlines and deliverables.
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn and drive quality solutions by taking ownership of assignments.
  • Team player and able to work collaboratively with BMC employees and customers in a global environment, as well as work independently.
  • Customer service focused (internal and external)
Education & Background
  • Bachelor\'s degree
  • Preferred: Languages/linguistics, translation & localization management, or business, computer science, engineering, or user experience
  • Experience in technology/software domain
Languages
  • Good to have: Besides English, proficiency in one of our top five supported languages: French, German, Spanish, Brazilian-Portuguese, Japanese
