The Associate Professor of Microbiology will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, conducting impactful research, and contributing to the academic and administrative functions of the department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in microbiology with demonstrated excellence in both research and education, particularly in areas such as bacteriology, virology, immunology, or clinical microbiology.
Key Responsibilities:Teaching:
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in microbiology and related subjects.
Develop course materials, practicals, and lab exercises.
Supervise undergraduate, master's, and PhD student research projects.
Participate in curriculum development and academic planning.
Research:
Conduct independent and collaborative research in microbiology.
Publish regularly in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
Apply for and manage external and internal research grants.
Collaborate with national/international institutions on joint research initiatives.
Service and Administration:
Serve on academic and administrative committees at department and university level.
Participate in student advising, mentoring, and academic assessments.
Support departmental initiatives, outreach activities, and quality assurance processes.
Mentor junior faculty and contribute to faculty development.
Qualifications:
Education:
PhD in Microbiology or a closely related field.
Experience:
Minimum 5-7 years of teaching and research experience at the university level, with evidence of increasing responsibility.
Publications:
Strong record of publications in reputed peer-reviewed journals.
Research Grants:
Experience in securing research funding is desirable.
Certifications (if applicable):
Medical microbiology specialization or certification (for medical colleges).
Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
