The Associate Professor in ENT (Otorhinolaryngology) is responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, supervising clinical work, conducting research, and providing high-quality patient care. The position also involves mentoring junior faculty, developing academic programs, and contributing to departmental and institutional growth.
The ideal candidate should have solid clinical expertise in ENT disorders, strong teaching and research credentials, and a passion for medical education and innovation.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Academic Duties
Deliver structured lectures, tutorials, and clinical demonstrations in ENT for
undergraduate (MBBS)
and
postgraduate (MS ENT)
students as per
NMC guidelines
.
Supervise postgraduate students in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and surgical training.
Prepare teaching materials, lesson plans, and assessment tools.
Conduct internal assessments, theory exams, practical exams, and viva voce.
Organize academic activities such as CMEs, seminars, workshops, and clinical meetings.
Participate in curriculum design, development, and review.
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive patient care in the
ENT outpatient and inpatient departments
, including
emergency services
.
Perform diagnostic, medical, and surgical ENT procedures independently and supervise junior staff.
Conduct operative teaching sessions and guide residents during surgeries.
Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and patient management.
Maintain clinical documentation and uphold high standards of medical ethics and professionalism.
Research and Publications
Conduct and guide research in ENT, audiology, otology, rhinology, or head and neck surgery.
Supervise postgraduate research dissertations and encourage evidence-based clinical practice.
Publish research papers in indexed national and international journals as per NMC requirements.
Apply for research grants and participate in conferences and workshops.
Administrative and Leadership Duties
Assist the Head of Department in academic, administrative, and clinical supervision.
Mentor Assistant Professors, Senior Residents, and Junior Residents.
Serve on departmental and institutional committees.
Contribute to quality assurance, accreditation, and institutional development initiatives.
Qualifications and RequirementsEducational Qualifications
Essential:
MS (ENT) / DNB (Otorhinolaryngology) or equivalent postgraduate qualification recognized by the
National Medical Commission (NMC)
.
Desirable:
Fellowship or specialized training in Otology, Rhinology, Head & Neck Surgery, or Laryngology.
Experience (As per NMC Norms)
Minimum
5 years of teaching experience
as Assistant Professor in the specialty after obtaining the postgraduate degree.
Minimum
2 research publications
in indexed journals (as per NMC guidelines).
Evidence of having guided postgraduate students in research/dissertation work.
