You Will Be:
As an Associate - Merchandise Payable, you will support the Accounts Payable team by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of merchandise invoices and assisting in resolving vendor-related queries. This role plays a vital part in maintaining smooth operations between the company and its global network of fashion vendors. Working closely with internal teams such as Merchandising, Buying, and Fulfillment Centers, you will help address invoice discrepancies and build a solid foundation in financial operations within a dynamic retail environment.
What You Will Do:
Accurately process merchandise invoices in a timely manner to support strong vendor relationships
Perform three-way matching (PO, goods receipt, invoice) and identify discrepancies, coordinate resolution with internal stakeholders
Identify vendor trends for invoices processed manually, work with the EDI team to understand vendors set up issue to increase auto match
Address and resolve vendor inquiries related to payments, invoice status, and
reconciliations via email
Vendors will be assigned as per the Alpha model, which will help the team members to understand the vendor trends, collaborate with the vendor to resolve inquiries and build a good working relationship
Collaborate with Merchandising, Finance, and Fulfillment Center teams to resolve escalated issues and prevent recurrence
Maintain detailed documentation and follow internal controls to ensure compliance with retail accounting standards
Identify recurring process issues and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and vendor satisfaction
Escalate unresolved or high-impact issues to the Assistant Manager while providing full context and documentation
Support team goals by contributing to productivity, quality, and process improvement efforts
You also have:
Bachelor's degree in finance
0-2+ years of experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic formulas)
Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
Understanding of retail operations and vendor invoicing processes is a plus
Interest in the fashion industry and eagerness to grow within the finance function
