Our Project Development team is at the forefront of developing and managing climate mitigation activities. By working closely with project owners and developers as well as their local communities, we manage the complete registration, verification and evaluation of carbon projects to enable the issuance of emission-reduction certificates, in line with official carbon standards. Job summary:

The purpose of this role is to lead the climate mitigation practice in the Sustainable
Technologies (ST) sector in South Asia and the Middle East team. In this role, you will have responsibility to guide and direct the climate project development and implementation team focusing on ST and GHG mitigation, ensuring they effectively execute our climate projects and Implementation activities within the region.
Reporting to Senior Manager South Asia and Middle East - Climate projects, you will oversee the timely and effective project management process and overall project operations for ST projects including the management of the full climate project development cycle in the assigned region.

This position also works closely with regional leaders (technology strategies, project design, management and evaluation team, portfolio management, climate policy, business management, HR, etc.) where required. In addition, you will participate in relevant meetings and conferences, proactively networking with relevant organisations including with potential project partners, technology providers, local stakeholders during site visit and other relevant events.

As a team member for the ST, the tasks include due diligence & assessment of the new sourced climate projects in ST, leveraging the technical expertise to get the quality projects, delivering the credits and managing the project implementation. This is to ensure the South Pole will properly and efficiently grasp key developments to raise the amount of emission reductions we can generate and contribute to the company\'s bottom line. As a people manager, the task includes hiring and managing teams, inspiring the multifaceted teams to deliver strong value to our project partners, communities and other project stakeholders, and to advance climate action as a whole.

Main tasks & responsibilities:

  • Independent management of climate mitigation projects and entire carbon cycle
project development/management, including implementation of all co-benefit
certificates * Maintain a good relationship with the Team Head, other Senior Leads, project owners, clients, VVBs (DOEs or auditors) and other counterparts
  • Be aware of the process of due diligence, as well as of all the internal procedures in the internal project management tool
  • Assessments, DD and Proposal/deliverable preparation and completion to the quality required by South Pole and the client
  • Define and plan content and structure to support the certification of a project: work plans, work schedules, budgets, and deliverables
  • Provide technical reviews and quality Checks
  • Keep the team members (collaborators) informed of their progress in the project and ensure that they stay within the time and budget agreed
  • Draft invoices to be approved by the supervisor and sent to the accounting team for submission to clients
  • Managing project owners\' accounts in our project management tool
  • Manage complex situations and technical challenges that will require the use of a problem-solving approach
  • Update proposal/project information in the project management tool and ensure all relevant documents are accessible on Google Drive at any time
  • Keep general information, milestones and cash flow in project management tools up to date
  • Plan site visits and other types of business trips/training if required
  • Gather, prepare and present information to represent the South Pole at meetings as requested
  • Undertake research into possible partners and collaborators for upcoming opportunities
  • Participate in formal and informal networking opportunities as requested
  • Share relevant contacts and information on possible opportunities with the Global Sourcing team
Requirements:

Essential -
  • University Degree in Energy Management, climate change, environmental economics, engineering or other related fields required; terminal degree (Master\'s) strongly preferred
  • Ability to cordinate workflows within several different teams/regions
  • Subject level experience in sustainable technologies, natural resource management and Waste to Energy generation projects, including experience in climate change, mitigation
  • Excellent leadership, with a problem-solving attitude, team player, Experience in the development of Carbon projects and/or programs in the voluntary and/or compliance carbon market and should be able to develop or check the financial modeling
  • Familiarity with carbon standards like VCS, GS4GG, plan vivo, including co-benefits
standards such as CCBS and the carbon market & mechanism updates like Article 6
developments & eligible technologies * Vast experience in guiding and directing the work of others, with thorough functional knowledge/expertise in the field of Sustainable technologies
  • Experience working in ASEAN countries is required to maintain good working relationships with clients and partners, including public sectors, NGO, the private sector, foundations, multilateral organizations, and the relevant sectors.
  • Fluency in English and excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Desirable -
  • Demonstrated experience in project development and management, engagement with clients as well as communication on commercial & technical issues
  • Experience managing technical projects with a diverse team of individuals and consultants
  • Willingness to travel within the region
  • Experience working with local communities, NGO and public sectors
