Associate Manager - Forging is responsible to oversee and execute forging shift operations by controlling press activities, ensuring process compliance, consistent product quality and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and manage shift production schedules for forging operations.
Control the press operations and train the junior team in the press operations
Raw material planning, furnace operation and forging scheduling to meet production targets.
Ensure correct selection, setup and use of dies & tools to improve efficiency and minimize downtime.
Supervise shift manpower to ensure adherence to defined work schedule and process parameters.
Monitor and control raw material and consumables for uninterrupted forging operations.
Coordinate with other sections and quality teams for smooth execution and compliance with standards.
Review and ensure that the forging process meet customer specifications and industry requirements.
Ensure calibration and proper functioning of thermocouples, pyrometers and furnace controllers.
Lead process improvements to minimize forging defects, enhance yield and optimize equipment utilization.
Prepare and maintain shift documentation, log sheets and audit records.
Carry out SAP activities for material transfer, production tracking and reporting.
Support audits, evaluate forging non-conformities and ensure timely corrective actions and process improvements.
Minimum 4 years for B.Tech. candidates & Minimum 11 years for Diploma / B.Sc. candidates.
Industry Background:
Experience in Open Die Forging industry.
Technical Expertise:
Hands on experience of forging alloy steels, heat-resisting steels, high-speed steels, tool & die steels, stainless steels, iron & nickel-based superalloys.
Operation and control of Open Die Forging press (min. 2000T capacity) & bogie/box type reheating furnaces (min. 20 MT capacity).
Experience in major forgings for Aerospace, Defense, Nuclear, Oil & Gas applications.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of open die forging processes, metallurgy and furnace operations.
Ability to plan, schedule and execute forging shift operations effectively.
Experience in handling practical issues during forging processes, managing resources, consumables and shift manpower.
Familiarity with customer audits and compliance requirements.
Skilled in preparing, maintaining and auditing documentation.
Proficiency in SAP for material tracking and production.
Strong teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills.
Strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement in forging process.
