Role Overview:
The Associate Country / Cluster Controller - Finance Finance Operations provides financial oversight, transactional process delivery and financial reporting for the business. A result-driven and confident Associate Finance Controller, manages and improves country / cluster financial performance and direct accounting operations. The Associate Finance Controller supports the delivery of high quality, timely reporting for group, management and statutory purposes. The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with external as well as internal financial reporting requirements including IFRS, local statutory laws & regulations. This role will be responsible for Coordinating, Problem Solving and Recommending solutions to the Cluster/Country Finance Controller for technical accounting transactions to ensure the Business Unit aligns to internal polices & controls and the relevant external accounting and statutory frameworks. This role needs to be proactively engaged to interpret and apply changes in local statutory accounting rules or other laws & regulations applicable to the local Business unit.
The role will be required to delegate, coach, mentor, supervise and review/approve the outputs of the 'Reporting Accountants' which support this role. As people manager, this will include completion of the annual objective setting and performance appraisal process. The Associate Finance Controller should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional problem solving skills, a flair for numbers, be highly organized and have exceptional leadership skills. The role will also provide guidance and training to the team on statutory and tax compliance activities for the markets they are accountable and ensure training to the team execution of all activities in accordance with S&N MAP and SOx control frameworks. Form This will include monitoring and optimization of activities currently performed, review and approval of all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs and identification and migration of further activities as appropriate.
Responsibilities:


  • Preparing financial reports in compliance with Group Standards (including the Minimum Acceptable Practices) and, where relevant in compliance with SOX. Responsible for high quality, timely reporting for group and statutory purposes. Analyzing financial data and providing ad-hoc analysis including decision support to the business.

  • Responsible for monitoring internal controls and compliances.

  • Overseeing and reviewing financial statements, including relevant schedules / forms Participating in monthly operations reviews with business, annual budgeting processes and managing quarterly financial forecast utilizing ERP and data consolidation IT systems. >Streamlining accounting functions and operations through optimized processes in coordination with F&A Lead as well as country/cluster controller. >Evaluating and managing risk within the given area of responsibilities. >Coordinating with external and internal auditors for performing audit processes. >Coordinating with GBS Team (Towers / Reporting Accountants) and Cluster/Country Controllers for flow of information with respect to Month end close, operational requirements, Service Delivery Performance and Issue Resolution.

  • Alignment with non-Finance functions within the market as their SPOC in GBS Center for issue resolution.

  • Brings insight to the market Controller and team to improve end-to-end accounting quality, control, effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Senses and responds to changes in the business and to accounting practice to ensure the finance function supports business strategies and remains compliant with local requirements.

  • Identify reasons for service and control deficiencies and shortcomings, propose, and implement solutions to resolve underlying issues

Location: Pune
Qualification: CA / CMA / CPA / ACCA or equivalent
Experience:

  • 7-10 years post qualified experience, either in global accounting practice or in industry.

  • Minimum of 4+ years people Management Experience.

  • Must have local language skills and fluency in English.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, working knowledge, expertise and experience in reporting under IFRS.

  • Strong leadership and inter-personal skills. Form Demonstrates experience in analyzing financial data, drawing sound conclusions and developing proposals/solutions.

  • Must be able to demonstrate a track record of success in working with diverse stakeholders.

  • Must have the ability to assess, react quickly and decisively to problems, taking tough decisions where needed or escalating issues as appropriate.

  • Must be compliance oriented

Nice to have :

  • Relevant industry experience, ideally in Medical Devices or Pharmaceuticals. Desirable past experience - Commercial Accounting, Legal Entity Reporting (including production and delivery of the accounts consolidation processes and complex transactions and associated accounting), Supply Chain Accounting (standard costs, variances, intercompany sales ).

  • Experience of SAP / Hyperion / TM1 / Cognos.

  • Experience of working in a large / listed entity.

  • Working knowledge and application of SOX control frameworks.

  • Experience of transition and transformation to an offshore Captive or BPO Transactional Finance operation.
