JOB SUMMARY
At Crisis24, the Associate Engineering Manager oversees the AI data pipeline platform, collaborates with engineers to design and develop scalable Python applications, offers technical guidance, and enforces coding, design, quality, and performance best practices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Leadership

• Lead design, architecture, and implementation of features within a Python-based application running on AWS.
• Evaluate and improve system performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Guide the team to build efficient data ingestion pipelines for scraping, crawling, and integrating multiple external services.
• Oversee database schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning in PostgreSQL.
• Ensure best practices in code quality, testing, CI/CD, and cloud deployment.
• Drive adoption of modern development practices, frameworks, and tools.

Team & Project Management

• Mentor and support a team of software engineers with varying experience levels.
• Conduct code reviews, provide technical feedback, and facilitate knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with product managers, data analysts, and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Help plan sprints, prioritize tasks, and remove technical blockers.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture.

System & Platform Responsibilities

• Maintain secure and reliable AWS infrastructure for deployment, monitoring, and logging.
• Oversee integration with external data providers (news, social media APIs, weather services, emergency alert systems, etc.).
• Ensure high availability for real-time risk detection workflows.
• Implement automated alerts, monitoring tools, and incident-response processes.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 8-10 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience designing large-scale applications.
• Deep experience with PostgreSQL (schema design, optimization, complex queries).
• Solid hands-on experience with AWS services (EKS, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, etc.).
• Experience on containerized microservices development and hosting on AWS.
• Experience building APIs, microservices, or distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of data ingestion, scraping, ETL workflows, or event-driven architecture.
• Proven experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with real-time data processing, alerts, or event-streaming systems.
• Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Familiarity with machine learning or NLP approaches for content classification.

SOFT SKILLS

• Strong communication and collaboration skills are important.
• Ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical partners.
• Problem-solving mindset and ownership mentality.
• Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands-on development.
