Position Summary - We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented B.E. Mechanical Engineering graduate to join our Proposal Department as a Graduate Engineer Trainee. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply core mechanical engineering principles in a commercial context, focusing on analyzing client requirements, preparing technical and commercial bids, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to secure new projects.
Key Responsibilities
Requirement Analysis:
Thoroughly review Request for Quotations (RFQs), tenders, and inquiry documents to understand client requirements and scope of work.
Technical Proposal Preparation:
Assist in drafting detailed technical proposals, specifications, and data sheets that outline proposed solutions and ensure compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
Cost Estimation and BOQ Preparation:
Work with the estimation team to prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), cost estimates, and quotations for projects.
Technical Documentation & Drawings:
Prepare or coordinate the creation of General Arrangement Drawings (GADs) and other necessary technical documentation using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
Collaboration & Coordination:
Liaise with the Sales, Design, Projects, and Procurement teams to gather all necessary inputs and ensure the accuracy and completeness of proposals.
Vendor Interaction:
Support the technical evaluation of vendor offers and handle technical queries from clients and vendors under the guidance of senior engineers.
Client Communication:
Participate in technical discussions and clarification meetings with clients to address their concerns and present proposed solutions.
Market Awareness:
Conduct research to stay updated with market trends, competitor proposals, and new technologies in the relevant industry (e.g., HVAC, material handling, power plants, etc.).
Documentation & Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of all submitted proposals, client communications, and support project handover documentation upon order finalization.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of core mechanical engineering principles, including mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and materials science.
Software Proficiency:
Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.) and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Analytical Skills:
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify client needs and formulate viable, cost-effective solutions.
Communication:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Soft Skills:
Eagerness to learn, strong attention to detail, good time management, and ability to work effectively in a team and manage deadlines.
