As we develop an enterprise-wide data and digital strategy that moves us toward greater focus on the use of data and data-driven insights, we are seeking an Associate Scientist for the Quality Engineering team. The Associate Scientist sits next to our Business Partners and tests our AXIOM platform according to our stakeholders needs. What you'll be DOING




What will your essential responsibilities include?

Domain Knowledge in Data Warehousing and Data Models: Demonstrate expertise in Data Warehousing technologies and data modeling to develop effective test strategies and ensure quality in ETL and BI deliverables. Test Planning and Prioritization: Collaborate with stakeholders to triage, prioritize, and plan testing activities for stories and epics, ensuring timely and efficient delivery. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Effectively coordinate with Business Partners, Product Owners, Development, and Infrastructure teams to align testing efforts with project roadmaps and objectives. Automation and Testing Efficiency: Apply an automation-first approach to testing user interfaces and functionalities, continuously seeking opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains. Test Progress Tracking and Metrics Analysis: Monitor testing activities, collect and analyze test metrics, and communicate insights and improvement actions to relevant teams. System Integration and Functional Testing: Design, develop, and execute test plans, scripts, and procedures for functional and System Integration Testing (SIT), ensuring coverage and compliance with standards. Testing Documentation and Standards Development: Review and maintain testing documentation, define testing standards, analyze test results, and present findings clearly to stakeholders. Root Cause Analysis and Data Quality: Investigate and identify causes of data deficiencies, contributing to data quality improvement initiatives and reusable data asset integrity. Best Practices and Standards Development: Contribute to establishing and maintaining quality engineering standards, ensuring consistency and efficiency across testing efforts. Data Validation and Business Collaboration: Partner with business teams to validate data products, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business requirements. Software Development Lifecycle Awareness: Maintain a broad understanding of the entire software development cycle, from business analysis through release and post-production support. Agile Methodology Proficiency: Apply knowledge of Scaled Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies to plan, execute, and improve testing processes within Agile frameworks. Performance Optimization: Use appropriate tools and techniques to optimize project performance, resource utilization, and testing efficiency. Cross-Functional Collaboration for Quality Assurance: Drive quality assurance success through effective collaboration with engineering, design, and production teams, fostering a culture of quality. Effective Communication and Requirement Clarification: Facilitate open communication among team members to clarify requirements, analyze defects, and promote a shared understanding of project goals. Requirements Gathering and Risk Management: Engage in requirements collection, identify potential risks early, and develop mitigation strategies with clear reporting.

Business & Insurance Acumen: Deep understanding of insurance processes, data, underwriting, claims, and operations to contextualize testing activities and validate data accuracy. Digital Literacy: Familiarity with digital tools, platforms, and data visualization solutions like PowerBI, Qlikview, and cloud-based analytics tools. Stakeholder Management: Ability to effectively manage expectations, gather requirements, and communicate progress and risks to stakeholders at all levels. Data Analytics & Data Warehousing: Expertise in working with unstructured and large datasets, data modeling, and designing ETL pipelines using Pyspark, SQL, and cloud-based data platforms. Troubleshooting & Debugging: Effective problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, and resolve data quality issues, system defects, and performance bottlenecks. Testing & Automation: Experience with functional testing, System Integration Testing, API testing, UI automation, and automation frameworks, with a focus on efficiency and repeatability. Data Warehousing Technologies: Knowledge of tools and platforms such as SQL Server, Azure Databricks, ADLS, CosmosDB, SQL DW Analytics, and related cloud services. Distributed Computing & Cloud Systems: Robust understanding of distributed computing concepts, cloud-based systems, and data staging layers in cloud environments. Scripting & Development: Proficiency in Python, Pyspark, and scripting for developing ETL pipelines and automation scripts. Tools & Platforms: Experience with Jira, Confluence, PowerBI, Qlikview, and Azure analytics tools. Data Validation & Quality Assurance: Proven ability to validate data accuracy, develop testing standards, and implement QA processes to ensure high-quality data products. Experience in Insurance Industry Testing: Proven track record of UAT, System Integration Testing, and data validation within the insurance domain.
