Associate Director - Strategic Supply Chain (Aerospace)

What you will do:




The

Associate Director - Strategic Supply Chain (Aerospace)

will lead the strategy, planning, and execution of the company's supplier transition, localization, and capability development initiatives in India.


This leader will oversee a cross-functional team comprising

Transition Managers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Supplier Quality Engineers

-- responsible for end-to-end supplier onboarding, work transfer execution, and sustainable operational performance.


The role demands a

balanced strategic and operational orientation

, combining supplier strategy development, risk governance, stakeholder alignment, and hands-on leadership of execution teams delivering measurable results in

cost, quality, delivery, and compliance

.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Strategic Supply Chain Leadership



Develop and execute India supply chain strategy aligned with global sourcing, cost competitiveness, and risk mitigation goals. Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers to support work transfer and localization programs. Build a robust supplier ecosystem capable of meeting aerospace quality, regulatory, and delivery requirements. Define long-term capacity, capability, and technology roadmaps for critical commodities in India. Partner with global commodity leaders and program management teams to align sourcing strategy with program priorities.

2. Program Governance & Execution Oversight



Oversee execution of all supplier work transfer and industrialization programs managed by Transition Managers. Drive accountability for project timelines, milestones, and risk management through structured governance. Lead monthly and quarterly reviews with global stakeholders on progress, risks, and resource needs. Ensure seamless cross-functional collaboration among sourcing, engineering, quality, operations, and logistics.

3. Supplier Development & Performance Management



Establish and manage a supplier performance management framework -- including metrics for quality, delivery, responsiveness, and continuous improvement. Champion supplier capability enhancement, focusing on process maturity, AS9100/NADCAP compliance, and special process development. Drive supplier segmentation and performance dashboards to prioritize improvement efforts. Build local partnerships with technical institutes or industry associations to strengthen supply base competitiveness.

4. Leadership & Team Development



Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of

Transition Managers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Supplier Quality Engineers

. Set clear objectives, performance metrics, and development plans for team members. Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement. Attract and retain technical and program management talent within the India supply chain organization.

5. Stakeholder & Executive Engagement



Serve as the primary point of contact for global executives on India supply chain transition and localization initiatives. Build credibility with internal leadership, suppliers, and government/industry bodies as a thought leader in aerospace supply chain transformation. Present strategy and performance updates to senior leadership in structured reviews.

6. Risk Management & Compliance



Ensure full compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements (AS9100, NADCAP, ITAR/EAR). Identify supply chain risks -- including capacity, geopolitical, and quality risks -- and implement proactive mitigation strategies. Maintain business continuity plans for critical supplier transitions.

Qualifications you must have:



Bachelor's or Master's degree in

Engineering (Mechanical / Aerospace / Industrial)

or

Supply Chain Management

.

15-20 years

of experience in

aerospace supply chain, supplier development, or operations leadership

, with at least 5 years in a managerial or regional leadership role. Proven track record of

leading supplier transitions, localization programs, or supply chain transformation projects

in a global organization. Deep understanding of

aerospace manufacturing processes

,

supplier qualification frameworks

, and

compliance standards (AS9100, NADCAP, PPAP, FAIR)

. Strong program management, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills across functions and geographies. Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage multiple complex programs concurrently.

Qualifications we prefer:



MBA or Postgraduate Degree in

Operations / Supply Chain / Business Leadership.

Certifications:

PMP

,

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt

, or

AS9100 Lead Auditor.

Prior experience in

OEM or Tier-1 Aerospace Supplier

organizations. Exposure to

digital supply chain tools, advanced analytics, or Industry 4.0

implementation.
