Job Role


The Non-Fiction & Commissioning Head oversees the strategy, development and execution of all non-fiction programming, working closely with creative and development teams to drive engaging and innovative content. The role also extends to commissioning responsibilities across fiction shows and managing content initiatives for the Zee Bullet app.

As a key leadership position, the Non-Fiction & Commissioning Head is instrumental in shaping the creative vision, guiding production excellence and ensuring the delivery of compelling, high-quality storytelling that resonates with audiences and strengthens client engagement.

Roles & Responsibilities

Owning assigned projects, driving them from initial concept through to successful on-air execution. Shape and implement the creative and content vision for the channel's Fiction and Non-Fiction programming lineup. Develop, plan and execute impactful show launches that deliver target ratings and strengthen channel performance across key metrics (GRP/TVR/TSV/slot positions, leveraging cross-functional capabilities) Oversee the creative and operational aspects of fiction shows, Non-fiction shows and special events, ensuring seamless execution from ideation to telecast. Manage all stages of production from a content perspective, collaborating with producers to maintain high creative standards and timely delivery. Inspire and guide the creative team, ensuring their output aligns with the network's strategic and business goals. Oversee the full creative lifecycle of projects from concept and scripting through production and post-production. Lead ideation and brainstorming sessions to generate original, audience-focused concepts and storytelling formats. Provide strong creative direction throughout the process, ensuring coherence and quality from script development to final delivery. Collaborate closely with internal creative teams to refine episodic storylines, dialogues and screenplay structures for existing and upcoming shows. Monitor production schedules, shooting plans and delivery timelines to ensure alignment with network expectations. Finalizing casting choices, locations and key creative elements while balancing artistic vision, budget constraints and availability. Partner with production leads to bring the creative intent of each show to life with precision and authenticity. Build a sustainable content pipeline by identifying and pursuing new partnerships and business opportunities with external networks and clients. Strengthen and utilize industry relationships to drive creative growth, collaboration and innovation. Manage multiple concurrent projects with efficiency, delivering consistent quality under demanding timelines.

Experience & Qualification



Creativity, Ability to innovate, Ability to gauge the pulse of the audience, Negotiation skills, Leadership skills, communication skills.

8-15 years of experience/ Bachelor's degree in BMM or any media related field/ Experience in programming Fiction & Non-Fiction department of a production house or Channel

Competencies



Experience, including creating scripts/treatments Proven ability to identify and create shows of non -fiction genre that will connect with audiences
Lifecycle production, producing shoots on location and in studio and post-production
Ability to handle multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Format & industry knowledge
