The Associate Director - Legal will lead a team of legal and non-legal professionals within the Haleon Legal team's Shared services center in Bengaluru to deliver high-quality global contracting and legal support. Provide leadership in legal contracting oversight, strengthen governance and risk management, and drive operational excellence so the Legal function scales effectively and delivers maximum value to the business.
Key responsibilities
Leadership & Team ManagementLead and manage a team of legal and non-legal professionals to deliver efficient, accurate, and compliant global support.
Allocate and monitor work to meet SLAs, quality standards, and stakeholder expectations.
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and development support; build a high-performing, inclusive culture.
Serve as the escalation point for complex or non-standard matters.
Contracting & AdvisoryOversee drafting and negotiation of complex contracts across all listed categories; ensure alignment to Haleon templates and playbooks.
Advise on pre-contract structuring, template optimization, and risk-based positions during negotiations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Compliance, Procurement, Commercial) to enable business objectives.
Operational ExcellencePartner with Legal Operations and functional leaders to implement process improvements, automation, and standardization.
Drive best practices in contract lifecycle management (CLM) and support reporting/analytics on COE performance.
Participate in new service line design, pilot programs, and technology implementations.
Qualifications and Essential skills
EducationBachelor of Law (LL.B) or equivalent legal qualification.
Experience12-18 years post-qualification, with exposure to global contracting and team leadership.
Prior experience in legal operations, legal shared services, or an in-house legal function.
Technical SkillsExpertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
Familiarity with global contracting standards and risk frameworks.
Experience building new processes and continuously refining existing workflows to drive efficiency and best practices.
Experience with legal technology (e.g., leading CLM/workflow/document automation tools).
Experience delivering contracting work across global jurisdictions.
