Overview

The Associate Data Engineer role within the Data Technology domain is focused on delivering comprehensive, enterprise-level data solutions. This position involves designing and developing data-driven systems that cater to both internal and external stakeholders.
Success in this role requires a blend of creativity, precision, and a strong curiosity to explore and implement the most effective data solutions for our customers.

Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities

Strategic Focus
Support the growth and enhancement of the data engineering function. Leverage software engineering principles and robust database design to build scalable data pipelines, integrations, and models for applications and reporting. Convert raw data into clean, accurate, and reusable datasets by combining technical expertise with business insight, enabling seamless data integration and informed decision-making across the organization. Own the data curation process--translating stakeholder requirements into well-architected, efficient, and reliable data models and pipelines. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business drivers and translate them into actionable data product requirements. Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in data technologies. Operational Management
Design, develop, and deploy data-driven solutions leveraging the Microsoft technology stack. Execute initiatives aligned with the Data and Analytics roadmap, focusing on optimizing existing capabilities and introducing new data functionalities. Apply data modelling techniques to organize and structure data for efficient analysis and reporting. Perform data transformations to ensure accuracy and reliability, including cleansing, correcting inconsistencies, and aggregating data. Maintain detailed and consistent data documentation to promote shared understanding of data definitions and terminology across teams. Follow best practices in development, including version control, unit testing, and continuous integration. Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to identify business needs and deliver automated, scalable data solutions. Work closely with engineers and analysts to enhance core data models and accelerate the delivery of actionable insights. Governance & Risk
Ensure timely completion of activities by adhering with the agreed processes & quality standards. Individual should adhere to data design best practices. Experience & Personal Attributes

Experience
1-3 years of overall development experience, with proficiency in writing optimized and SQL queries. Minimum 1 year of hands-on data engineering experience, including SQL database development and managing end-to-end ETL workflows. Knowledge with SSIS and other data transformation tools for building and maintaining data pipelines is preferable. Knowledge of modern data warehouse concept and Azure technologies such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory. Understanding of data warehousing concepts and architecture pattern. Proficient in version control systems like Git, with strong skills in T-SQL scripting and data modelling. Exposure to Python for distributed data processing is a plus. Strong grasp of relational and dimensional data modelling, supporting efficient data storage and retrieval. Personal Attributes
