Job Description


The Environmental and Occupational Toxicologist is responsible for providing expertise in the review of raw materials and formulas for environmental and occupational concerns As the individual becomes more proficient they will provide oversight and governance on foundation data and will conduct literature searches to support evaluation of new raw materials Key Responsibilities: Occupational Toxicology & Occupational Health Evaluate the chemical composition and properties of raw materials to assess potential hazards, including toxicity, flammability, reactivity, and environmental impact. Apply knowledge in toxicology to support the Health Effect Rating (HER) process. Support occupational medical program - working closely with Manager Environmental and Occupational Toxicology. Environmental Toxicology Evaluate new raw materials which are being considered for use in Colgate products for environmental profile. Conduct literature reviews on ingredients and obtain necessary information from Suppliers to support evaluations. Utilize toxicology data retrieval systems and modeling applications to supplement data. Support Manager on Environmental and Occupational Toxicology on specific projects. Responsible for highlighting to Management new environmental issues on ingredients important to Colgate. This will occur through monitoring scientific literature and being aware and cognizant of growing topics of concern. Responsible for maintaining the companys SAP database. Keep the database accurate and up-to-date, which helps to ensure that the company is in compliance with all applicable regulations and Toxicity data. RIFM is organization responsible for details on Flavor and Fragrances component. Conduct annual review of the RIFM database prepared based on new toxicological studies and identify several gaps in the data. Worked with the Global Flavor and fragrance team to update the data and ensure that it is more accurate and complete. Partnering with Global F&F (Flavor & Fragrance) and Regulatory team in conducting impact analysis. These analyses have helped the company to identify potential risks associated with its products and to take steps to mitigate those risks.
