Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the PDI team (technicians, assistants, detailers).
Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive PDI checklists and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Ensure all new vehicles undergo thorough mechanical, electrical, functional, and cosmetic inspections according to manufacturer and company standards.
Quality Control & Defect Resolution:
Conduct random and final quality checks on inspected units to ensure a "zero-defect" delivery.
Identify, document, and promptly report any defects, non-compliance issues, or transit damage.
Coordinate with the Service/Workshop team for necessary repairs, accessory fitments, or warranty claims.
Team Leadership & Management:
Assign tasks, manage workflow, and monitor the productivity and efficiency of the PDI team.
Provide technical guidance, training, and coaching to PDI staff.
Manage shift schedules and ensure a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Coordination & Documentation:
Collaborate closely with the Sales, Inventory, and Logistics teams to align PDI timelines with customer delivery schedules.
Maintain accurate, detailed records of all inspections, defect reports, repair logs, and quality documentation.
Prepare daily/weekly reports on PDI performance metrics and recurring issues.
Compliance & Inventory:
Ensure all PDI activities comply with internal company policies, safety regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.
Manage the inventory of PDI tools, equipment, and necessary spare parts, ensuring they are maintained and calibrated.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education:
Diploma or Degree in Automobile, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent technical qualification like ITI).
Experience:
Typically
3-7 years
of experience in the automotive or equipment sector, with at least
2 years
in a supervisory or quality control role (PDI, Service, or Workshop).
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of vehicle/equipment systems, components, diagnostics, and functionality.
Leadership Skills:
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage a technical team effectively.
Attention to Detail:
Meticulous approach to identifying even minor defects or inconsistencies.
Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for team management and cross-departmental coordination.
Problem-Solving:
Strong diagnostic and issue-resolution abilities.
