Role Summary
We are looking for a senior legal professional to lead and manage the organization's consumer litigation and ombudsman portfolio. The role involves end-to-end oversight of consumer disputes, regulatory compliance, litigation strategy, and advisory support at the pre-litigation stage.
This is a leadership role responsible for managing a team and external legal counsel while ensuring risk mitigation and regulatory alignment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all consumer court and ombudsman matters.
Oversee drafting of replies, legal strategy, appeals, and compliance with orders.
Ensure high-quality, well-structured legal responses and defense strategy.
Track and manage financial exposure, including reserves for compensation and interest.
Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements and reporting obligations.
Advise business functions on pre-litigation matters and dispute risk mitigation.
Supervise and mentor team members to ensure timely and effective case management.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external panel advocates.
Candidate Profile
LL.B / LL.M qualification.
18+ years of experience in litigation, preferably within the financial services or insurance sector.
Strong experience handling consumer court and ombudsman matters.
Proven leadership experience managing teams and external counsel.
Strong analytical and risk assessment capability.
Ability to provide commercially sound legal advice aligned with business objectives.
