Inviting applications for the role of Assistant Vice President Tax Compliance Delivery Manager

This role involves managing comprehensive tax compliance support for a mining manufacturing company operating in the

USA and Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Peru & Chile

delivered from

Chennai, India, Monterrey, Mexico & Uberlandia, Brazil

. The professional will oversee tax operations in these regions and

Direct Tax

support activities, including data preparation, reconciliations, return validations, and coordination with onshore teams and external advisors. The role also includes

audit support

, compliance calendar management, documentation, and guidance on tax treatment of transactions across jurisdictions. The candidate will lead

process improvements, automation initiatives

, and help strengthen offshore tax delivery capabilities. Strong technical expertise in

Tax concepts, Global Mobility Taxation, Transfer Pricing, Cross Border taxation,

experience with leading teams in the Big 4 firms, ERP systems, and experience in cross-border stakeholder management are essential for success in this role. Location is Chennai, India.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee

end-to-end support for tax

compliance, including tax data preparation, reconciliation, return review, and coordination with external advisors and onshore tax teams.

Manage preparation and validation of North & South America

Tax compliance inputs

, including tax packs, depreciation schedules, return support documentation, and quarterly/year-end tax provisioning.

Provide

audit support

for federal, state/provincial, and local tax reviews by preparing responses to notices, compiling documentation, and coordinating with internal stakeholders and external consultants.

Guide and validate

tax treatment of capital assets, leases, inventory movement, and contractor/vendor payments

, ensuring accurate tax classification across systems and geographies.

Maintain strong control over

tax compliance calendars, internal documentation standards

, and ensure timely support for filing and payment obligations.

Proactively track regulatory changes in Americas' tax regimes (indirect and direct), assess business impact, and coordinate process or system changes.

Lead or contribute to

tax process improvement, automation initiatives

, and help build scalable delivery capabilities for tax operations from Chennai.

Qualifications we seek in you!

Minimum Qualifications

Chartered Accountant, CPA (US/Canada), or equivalent qualification

with relevant years of experience in

North American tax compliance and audit support

, preferably in manufacturing or mining sectors.

Deep understanding of

Tax Concepts, leadership position in the Big 4, tax transformation initiatives

, and basic direct tax compliance principles for the Americas region.

Proven experience in managing

multi-jurisdictional tax processes

, working with large datasets from

ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle)

and tax engines like

Vertex, Avalara, or ONESOURCE, or Big 4 tool

.

Preferred Qualifications/ Skills

Strong command over

tax documentation, reconciliations, and audit defence

, with ability to interpret and apply jurisdiction-specific tax laws.

Demonstrated leadership in offshore tax delivery environments, including

team coordination, stakeholder engagement

, and cross-functional collaboration.

Highly proficient in

Excel

, data management tools, and reporting dashboards; experience in process automation or transformation is a strong plus.

Strong communication, critical thinking, and time management skills, with flexibility to support

North American time zones and compliance cycles
