Inviting applications for the role of Assistant Vice President - Global Tax Compliance & Transformation (Manufacturing CoE)
We are seeking a dynamic and seasoned tax leader to set up and lead a Global Tax Centre of Excellence (CoE) for our manufacturing HMS organization and immediately to begin with leading, mining and cement manufacturing client's operations across the USA, Canada, Europe, APAC, and LATAM. This role will drive end-to-end tax compliance, manage multi-regional tax teams, lead transformation initiatives, and build tax knowledge infrastructure from our Chennai delivery center. The ideal candidate brings relevant years of experience across direct and indirect taxes, transfer pricing, audits, and tax technology, with a track record in shared services/KPO environments and strong credentials in Big 4 advisory.
Responsibilities
Establish and lead the Global Tax CoE for the Manufacturing vertical, delivering tax compliance and reporting across multiple jurisdictions.
Define the strategic vision, structure, and operational framework for the CoE in alignment with corporate tax leadership.
Lead, mentor, and manage multi-regional tax teams supporting compliance in the USA, Canada, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and LATAM.
Tax Compliance & Advisory
Oversee global Direct Tax and Indirect Tax processes including corporate income tax, GST/HST, VAT, Sales & Use Tax, Property Tax, and Transfer Pricing documentation.
Ensure timely, accurate preparation and validation of tax returns, tax provisions (IFRS/Ind AS), and local statutory tax filings.
Provide thought leadership on complex tax matters, legislative changes, and cross-border tax structuring in collaboration with regional tax leads.
Transformation & Digital Enablement
Lead tax transformation initiatives, focusing on standardization, automation, and analytics, leveraging tools such as ERP, Data Lake and Power BI.
Drive end-to-end process improvement and operational excellence through KPI frameworks, SLA monitoring, and continuous delivery optimization.
Collaborate with IT, Finance Transformation, and GBS to align tax operations with enterprise platforms and digital workflows.
Tax Risk, Governance & Audit Support
Maintain a robust control environment, ensuring audit readiness and documentation compliance for internal and external tax audits globally.
Develop and manage tax risk registers, control frameworks, and remediation strategies in alignment with enterprise risk guidelines.
Research & Knowledge Management
Lead a research-oriented tax knowledge function to track and assess legislative and regulatory changes globally.
Develop and maintain comprehensive playbooks, process manuals, and knowledge repositories for global tax use cases.
Represent the CoE in global tax councils, governance forums, and regulatory workshops, contributing insights from offshore tax operations.
Qualifications we seek in you!
Minimum Qualifications
Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA (US/Canada), or equivalent international qualification.
Relevant years of progressive experience in global tax compliance, audit, and transformation, ideally in mining, cement, or heavy manufacturing sectors and / or Consulting.
Proven experience in leading multi-regional tax teams, with deep exposure to KPO/shared services models and offshore tax operations.
Strong expertise across direct and indirect taxation, transfer pricing, tax audits, tax accounting (IFRS/Ind AS), and international tax law.
Previous experience with a Big 4 firm is essential; understanding of OECD BEPS, Pillar 2, CBCR, and other global frameworks is highly preferred.
Deep knowledge of tax technology and ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, ONESOURCE, Vertex, Avalara, etc.).
Demonstrated leadership in building Tax CoEs, implementing tax process automation, and managing transformation projects end-to-end.
Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and cross-cultural leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications/ Skills
Strong intellectual curiosity and a research-driven mindset, with a passion for developing scalable, future-ready tax capabilities.
Ability to operate effectively in a matrix, multicultural environment, influencing global stakeholders at the C-suite and board level.
Proven track record in building delivery teams, driving capability development, and aligning offshore talent with global strategic priorities.
