Role Purpose
The role is responsible to express strategic requirements, outlines high-level integrated designs to meet those requirements, define the processes involved in testing and maintaining the database and align with enterprise strategy and related business architecture.
Role Accountability
Build database strategies through new/innovative technologies to ensure systems reliability & sustainability
Develop database architectural strategies at the modeling, design and implementation stages to address business or industry requirements
Design scalable database to cater heavy business load and database growth, size of more than 60 TB
Develop database solutions by designing proposed system; defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, back-up, and recovery specifications.
Design database applications, such as interfaces, data transfer mechanisms, global temporary tables, data partitions, and function-based indexes to enable efficient access of the generic database structure
Install database systems; applying optimum access techniques; coordinating installation actions; documents actions.
Maintain database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance; answering user questions
Collaborate with system architects, software architects, design analysts, and others to understand business or industry requirements
Set up database clusters, backup, or recovery processes and enforce database development standards
Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors for the smooth functioning of the enterprise data system
Develop best practices for database migrations, upgradations due to product obsolesces with minimum downtime & impact to the business
Develop load-balancing processes to eliminate down time for backup processes
Monitor and report systems resource consumption trends to assure production systems meet availability requirements and hardware enhancements are scheduled appropriately
Oversee adherence to regular process documentation practices in compliance with the process guidelines

Vendor productivity
Efficient Backup, Restore processes with high RPO and minimum RTO from the database end
Efficient purging and archiving policies on the DB end
Compliance to security standards, logical access controls, SOD's
Timely and accurate updation of process documentation
Process Adherence as per MOU
Technical Skills / Experience / Certifications
Knowledge of Oracle RAC, DR Setups, OEM Setup & monitoring, Capacity planning, DB Patching, SQL DB Cluster
Knowledge of Middleware & Oracle ERP Suite, Performance Tuning
Knowledge of OS Linux/Unix, Expertise in Migration & upgradations of Critical databases
OCP - DBA and RHEL - Redhat Linux Certification
