We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Vice President Business Consulting, GSC\xe2\x80\x99s

  • Credit Risk Management Strategy is one of the key functional areas within Retail Risk Management. This function owns the development of Origination and Account Management strategies for the different Regions within HSBC group across all retail products (secure and unsecure). One of the key functions is to develop acquisition and customer management strategies and solid risk management frameworks for Asia Pacific markets.
  • The role requires the incumbent to lead over time one of the clusters within the HBAP Strategy team supporting development of multiple policies spanning across Credit Limit Increases/Decreases, Authorizations, Customer Engagement campaigns, Top-ups, Approve/Decline, Line Assignment across all key markets for HBAP region, reporting into the Lead for HBAP Credit Risk Strategy in GAC.
Opportunity

This role applies to the Decision Science job family and would encompass supporting Fornt-End & Back-end initiatives for several portfolios across different products in the HBAP region.

Responsibilities include
  • providing valuable insights on customer management policies leveraging functional and business knowledge
  • estimating financial benefits for the strategies developed & providing benchmarks for various key KPIs for strategy monitoring purpose
  • Collaborating with systems, compliance, regulatory teams for successful deployment of policies in the country
  • Ensuring robust documentation of strategies developed
  • Develop understanding of different customer management initiatives and ability to do a portfolio deep dive to identify potential opportunities for growth
  • The incumbent would be expected to effectively explain the trends, adding meaningful insights on the back of relevant business knowledge.
  • This role requires the incumbent to plan and execute the assigned projects/ analysis as per the agreed timelines and with accuracy and quality. This position also involves project management for self and other team members & stakeholder management responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

Guide team members within the team to deliver on projects to fill gaps related to
  • Inadequate business information sitting off-shore and data complexities
  • Unstructured business problem and frequent changes in scope
  • Frequent ad-hoc queries with quick turnaround time
  • The role holder shall be expected to pro-actively suggest modifications to proposed analyses/marketing activities based on his/her understanding of their impact on overall business priorities.
  • Given the dynamic and ever changing global business situation, the business area supported by this role is expected to steer the business priorities to best suit the situations. This may result in changing priorities for projects and analysis. The analytics team is expected to meander through the same and continue to provide best quality solutions as relevant to the need. The incumbent of this role is expected to summarize the business priority and enable the effective delivery of projects and analysis, business knowledge & intuition to make best case recommendations
  • The role holder shall also be expected to guide AVP/Manager/Senior Analyst/Analysts, from a functional perspective and help them build up a strong business understanding as a SME.
Requirements

What you will need to succeed in the role:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in mathematics/ statistics/ economics or equivalent; Masters degree is preferred
  • At least 9 years of relevant experience in analytics preferably in the fields like Strategy Development, Loss Forecasting/Reserving , Modeling, Risk Strategy, Marketing etc.
  • Excellent communication skills with technical (the team) and non-technical (senior entity management in region) counterparts; being able to "translate" between the two worlds is the major thing in the day to day work.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to grasp new concepts quickly.
  • Good organizational, analytical, problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior experience in managing risk activities in retail lending is essential.
  • Prior experience in managing people will be preferred
  • Prior experience in managing Retail portfolios such as Mortgage, Cards, Loans and Overdrafts
  • Prior project management experience would be preferred
  • Prior experience with acquisition risk strategy, account management strategy or strategy analysis and portfolio management would be preferred. Exposure to TRIAD and SMG3 would be a plus.

  • The establishment of the Global Resourcing business is a major Group Strategic initiative which seeks to achieve cost savings, service improvements and competitive advantage through the use of the high skill / low cost base available in Asian countries.
  • Within this, the job holder has a key role to create a stable and effective operation of analytics in the GSC. This will be against a background of dynamic business situations.
  • Employment environment in advanced analytics in India is one where demand exceeds supply. Therefore, one of key roles is to hire and retain good quality resources for stable delivery of analytical solutions to business partners.
  • The job holder will need to develop and maintain the confidence of the migrating business partners and continually \xe2\x80\x9csell\xe2\x80\x9d the capabilities of the GSC within the Group. An appropriate relationship management structure must be maintained to ensure that Business Partners\xe2\x80\x99 expectations are understood, discussed and measured against agreed performance standards.
  • As a key member of the Global Resourcing team the job holder is expected to help shape future business strategy and define long term contribution to the group
