Job Description


The Basel Policy and Capital Analysis AVP will primarily focus on the following areas: Advisory: Provide rule interpretation and technical expertise to various functions across the organization, including with respect to the treatment of new products and of the restructuring of existing deals Collaborate with various functions to identify and execute capital optimization initiatives through enhanced interpretations, data improvements or contract amendments Develop analyses in support of the Bank\'s advocacy effort to the FRB, FDIC and OCC concerning regulatory changes that have substantial capital implications Assist business units with ad-hoc RWA modeling requests and provide meaningful inputs to assess the profitability of the Bank\'s activities in the future Policy framework: Maintain and enhance the Basel policy framework as new product offerings are designed and new regulations are issued by the U.S. banking agencies Evaluate State Street\'s current regulatory capital position compared to its U.S. and international peers including reviewing industry best practices Perform an ongoing assessment of the Bank\'s RWA treatments. Identify potential weaknesses, escalate and remediate them in an effort to strengthen the Basel program Guide junior team members in performing quantitative analyses and produce materials presented to the FRB/senior management Develop policy materials/memos addressing key interpretive matters Participate in the annual Advanced Systems Assessment across various functions to deliver a comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of the Bank\'s systems/processes Assist the Federal Reserve, Corporate Audit and Regulatory Reporting Assurance with their inquiries Capital Analysis : Engage in strategic Basel related analytical projects pertaining to Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA) and Leverage Ratios Develop analytical frameworks to support the organization in analyzing and quantifying the impact of upcoming regulations Participate in various industry Quantitative Impact Studies Investigate and remediate data quality issues What we value These skills will help you succeed in this role Advanced knowledge of the U.S. capital rules and of the upcoming Basel IV framework including an understanding of risk management (e.g. credit market and operational risk) aspects Ability to effectively manage junior team members to develop analyses supporting the Bank\'s positions Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational skills Ability to collaborate effectively with various functions across the Bank Strong critical thinking and capacity to identify key issues, associated solutions, and execute remediation Collaborative professional with strong work ethics Must display a capacity to drive and execute tasks through completion Proficient in PowerPoint/Word/Excel and other similar tools Education & Preferred Qualifications Bachelors in Finance, Economics, or related field Masters in Finance or Business Administration, CFA/CPA preferred 10+ years prior experience in the banking and/or financial services industry with an advanced knowledge of banking industry products and services and capital markets activities Additional requirements Travel up to 25% could be required depending on location and business circumstances
