Assist the Consultant Proctologist during proctology surgeries such as hemorrhoids, fissure, fistula, pilonidal sinus, and other anorectal procedures.
Prepare OT setup including proctology instruments, lasers (if applicable), and ensure strict adherence to aseptic and safety protocols.
Support intra-operative patient monitoring and assist as directed during surgical procedures.
2. Minor Proctology Procedures
Perform minor proctology procedures independently under guidance, including:
Proctoscopic examinations
Incision and drainage (I&D) of perianal abscess
Wound care and basic anorectal procedures
Ensure proper patient consent, documentation, and post-procedure care instructions.
3. Patient Consultation & Follow-up
Conduct OPD consultations for proctology patients as assigned.
Handle additional responsibilities such as:
Calling and coordinating with pre-operative and post-operative patients
Explaining diagnosis, treatment plans, and lifestyle/dietary advice
Assist in follow-up consultations and patient progress assessment.
4. Pre-Operative & Post-Operative Care
Evaluate patients pre-operatively and prepare them for proctology procedures.
Manage post-operative care including:
Dressing changes for anorectal wounds
Sitz bath guidance and wound hygiene education
Pain management monitoring and complication identification
Report any post-operative complications promptly to the Consultant Proctologist.
5. Documentation & Clinical Compliance
Maintain accurate patient records, operative notes, and follow-up documentation.
Ensure compliance with clinic protocols, ethical standards, and infection control practices.
Required Qualifications
BAMS MS with interest or experience in Proctology.
Training or hands-on exposure to anorectal procedures.
Valid medical registration with relevant medical council.
Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of anorectal diseases and proctology procedures
Competence in handling pre- and post-operative proctology patients
Strong patient communication and counseling skills
Ability to work efficiently in OT and OPD settings
