The Assistant Quality Manager is responsible for supporting the Quality Manager in implementing, maintaining, and improving the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring product quality, customer satisfaction, and compliance with ISO, customer, and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Management System (QMS)
Assist in implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001, IATF, or customer-specific QMS.
Prepare, update, and control quality manuals, SOPs, and records.
Conduct internal audits and coordinate external audits.
Ensure corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are implemented.
2. Incoming, In-Process & Final Inspection
Supervise incoming raw material inspection.
Monitor in-process quality checks on production lines.
Ensure final inspection and product release as per quality standards.
3. Customer Quality Management
Handle customer complaints and ensure root cause analysis and corrective action.
Prepare and submit 8D, CAPA, and quality reports to customers.
Support customer audits and visits.
4. Supplier Quality
Coordinate with suppliers for quality issues.
Assist in supplier audits and performance evaluation.
Ensure compliance with supplier quality standards.
5. Documentation & Records
Maintain inspection records, test reports, and calibration records.
Control quality documents as per ISO standards.
Prepare monthly quality performance reports.
6. Process Improvement
Analyze quality data and identify improvement opportunities.
Support implementation of quality tools like 5S, Kaizen, SPC, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis.
Work with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering to reduce defects and rework.
7. Team Supervision
Guide and train Quality Inspectors and Operators on quality standards.
Ensure discipline and compliance with quality procedures on the shop floor.
Authority
Approve or reject material and finished goods as per quality standards.
Stop production in case of major quality issues.
Recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Qualifications & Skills
Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Quality Engineering.
3-6 years of experience in manufacturing quality.
Good knowledge of ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 standards.
Strong understanding of inspection methods, gauges, and quality tools.
Ability to prepare reports, SOPs, and audit documentation.
Good communication and problem-solving skills.
