The Assistant Project Manager (APM) - MEP supports the planning, coordination, and execution of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing works within construction projects. The role involves assisting the Project Manager in managing contractors, schedules, technical documentation, procurement, and quality to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities1. Project Coordination
Assist in planning, organizing, and supervising MEP activities as per project schedules.
Coordinate with consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Support the preparation and review of MEP drawings, specifications, and shop drawings.
2. Technical Support
Assist in evaluating technical submittals, material approvals, and RFIs.
Review detailed design documents and identify discrepancies or conflicts with architectural/structural disciplines.
Ensure compliance with project standards, codes, and client requirements.
3. Site Management
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality of MEP installations.
Track MEP progress and report deviations, delays, and risks to the Project Manager.
Ensure proper execution and adherence to safety standards and QA/QC procedures.
4. Scheduling & Planning
Prepare and update MEP activity schedules in coordination with the planning team.
Monitor timelines, milestones, and resource allocations.
Assist in mitigating delays through proactive planning and coordination.
5. Procurement & Vendor Coordination
Support procurement of MEP materials and equipment by comparing quotations and preparing technical evaluations.
Follow up with vendors for timely delivery and compliance with specifications.
Coordinate factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT), if applicable.
6. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain project documentation including logs for RFIs, material approvals, change orders, and site instructions.
Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for MEP works.
Document meeting minutes and track action items.
7. Testing, Commissioning & Handover
Assist in planning and supervising testing and commissioning procedures for MEP systems.
Ensure proper documentation for handover, including O&M manuals, as-built drawings, and warranty certificates.
Support the Project Manager in closing out MEP-related snags and punch-list items.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (MEP specialization preferred).
2-5 years of experience in MEP project execution or coordination.
Knowledge of international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, IPC, etc.) is an advantage.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, MS Project/Primavera (preferred).
Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
