Job Description

The True School of Music at Vijaybhoomi University is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor in Sound Engineering with strong, real-world industry experience. This role is designed for practitioners who live and breathe sound--studio, stage, broadcast, or post-production--and are ready to bring that expertise into a contemporary, performance-driven academic environment.

The position emphasizes hands-on teaching, mentorship, and industry alignment, ensuring students graduate with practical skills, professional discipline, and a clear understanding of how the audio industry actually works.

Key Responsibilities
The faculty member will deliver practice-led instruction across undergraduate and postgraduate programs in sound engineering and music technology. Teaching will focus on studio recording, live sound, audio production workflows, sound design, mixing and mastering, acoustics, signal flow, and current industry tools and standards.

Responsibilities include conducting studio and lab sessions, supervising live sound and recording projects, mentoring student productions, and guiding portfolio development. The role also involves updating course content to reflect evolving industry practices, technologies, and workflows.

The Assistant Professor will actively engage with industry professionals, support internships and live projects, assist in maintaining studios and equipment, and contribute to workshops, masterclasses, and collaborative industry initiatives. Participation in academic processes, admissions, curriculum planning, and institutional activities is expected.

Eligibility & Qualifications

Applicants may hold:

A Master's degree in Sound Engineering, Audio Engineering, Music Technology, Acoustics, or a related field

OR

A Bachelor's degree in Sound Engineering, Music Technology, Audio Production, or a related discipline with substantial and relevant industry experience.

Candidates with

3-5+

years of professional experience in recording studios, live sound, broadcast, film, OTT platforms, post-production, or large-scale events are strongly encouraged to apply, even if they do not hold a postgraduate degree.

Demonstrated proficiency with DAWs, recording consoles, microphones, live sound systems, outboard gear, and modern production workflows is essential.

Preferred Profile

Active or recent professional engagement in the audio or music industry*

Experience mentoring interns, junior engineers, or assisting in training roles*

Comfort working in fast-paced, production-oriented environments*

Interest in bridging industry practice with structured learning*

Strong communication skills and a student-first mindset*

Prior teaching experience is welcome but not mandatory for candidates with significant industry credentials and a strong professional portfolio.

Salary and benefits will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications, experience, and industry standing, as per university norms.

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹70,000.00 per month
