The Assistant Professor in Physiology will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, conducting research, mentoring students, and contributing to the academic and administrative activities of the department. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in human physiology, a commitment to excellence in education, and a passion for advancing research in biomedical or allied health sciences.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Academic Duties
Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions in Physiology for undergraduate and postgraduate students (e.g., MBBS, BDS, Nursing, Allied Health, etc.).
Develop and update course materials, laboratory manuals, and assessment tools in line with current advancements in physiology.
Supervise student projects, dissertations, and laboratory work.
Evaluate and assess student performance through written, oral, and practical examinations.
Utilize modern teaching methods, including simulation and e-learning tools.
Research Responsibilities
Conduct independent and collaborative research in physiology or related biomedical fields.
Publish research findings in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
Seek external research funding through grants and proposals.
Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
Administrative and Service Responsibilities
Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and academic planning.
Contribute to accreditation, quality assurance, and institutional development activities.
Serve on committees and perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
Mentor and advise students on academic and career matters.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
MD/MBBS with M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physiology (or equivalent qualification recognized by [relevant council, e.g., MCI/NMC/UGC]).
Experience:
For medical colleges: As per [NMC/UGC] regulations -- usually 3 years of teaching/research experience post-master's degree.
For universities: Demonstrated teaching and research experience in higher education.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of human physiology and its clinical applications.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to integrate modern teaching technologies.
Research aptitude and publication record in reputed journals.
Team-oriented with good organizational and mentoring abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. with an active research portfolio in physiology or biomedical sciences.
Experience in curriculum development and use of digital learning platforms.
Record of successful grant applications or funded research projects.
