The Assistant Professor in Pediatric Nursing will be responsible for delivering high-quality academic instruction in pediatric nursing to undergraduate and graduate nursing students. This individual will engage in research, contribute to curriculum development, and participate in academic service. The role also includes advising students, mentoring junior faculty, and collaborating with clinical and educational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Instruction:
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in pediatric nursing, including theory and clinical components.
Develop and implement engaging course materials, including syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and exams.
Use a variety of instructional methods and technologies to promote effective learning.
Evaluate and assess student performance, providing timely feedback and support.
Supervise and mentor students during clinical placements and practicums in pediatric settings.
Participate in the development and continuous improvement of the nursing curriculum, ensuring it aligns with current best practices in pediatric nursing.
Research and Scholarship:
Conduct independent and collaborative research in the field of pediatric nursing.
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, present at academic conferences, and contribute to advancing the field of pediatric nursing.
Seek funding opportunities and manage research grants related to pediatric nursing.
Engage in professional development to stay current with advancements in pediatric nursing and academic teaching methods.
Academic Service and Leadership:
Participate in departmental and university committees, including curriculum review and accreditation activities.
Advise and mentor students, providing academic and career guidance.
Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of nursing students and junior faculty.
Support the department's mission and contribute to its goals and objectives.
Clinical Practice (if applicable):
Engage in clinical practice in pediatric nursing to maintain expertise and integrate practical experience into teaching.
Serve as a clinical mentor for students in pediatric clinical settings.
Community and Professional Engagement:
Collaborate with pediatric healthcare facilities and community organizations for student clinical placements, internships, and service-learning opportunities.
Represent the institution at professional meetings, conferences, and in interactions with external organizations.
Qualifications:
Education:
A Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctorate in Nursing (DNP/PhD) with a specialization in pediatric nursing.
Current, valid RN licensure in [Country/State], with eligibility to practice in the institution's clinical partner locations.
Experience:
A minimum of 1 years of experience in pediatric nursing, including clinical practice.
Prior teaching experience in a nursing program is preferred but not required.
Demonstrated ability to engage in scholarly research or clinical practice.
Experience in supervising students in clinical or academic settings is desirable.
