Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor in OBG Nursing is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, research, and clinical expertise in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBG) Nursing. This role includes educating nursing students, guiding them in both theoretical and practical knowledge related to maternal and newborn care, and fostering academic growth. Additionally, the Assistant Professor will engage in scholarly research, contribute to curriculum development, and provide mentorship to students and junior faculty members.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching & Instruction:
Deliver lectures, seminars, and tutorials in Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
Develop and implement course materials, lesson plans, and syllabi in alignment with the curriculum.
Utilize various teaching methods (classroom, online, simulation, clinical placements) to enhance learning experiences.
Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, and practical evaluations.
Provide guidance and mentorship to nursing students in clinical practice settings.
Facilitate clinical rotations in obstetric and gynecological care for nursing students.
Clinical Expertise & Supervision:
Provide expert knowledge and clinical guidance in obstetrics, gynecology, and maternal-child health care.
Supervise students during their clinical placements in relevant healthcare settings, ensuring adherence to professional nursing standards.
Foster critical thinking and evidence-based practice in clinical settings.
Ensure students are exposed to current best practices in OBG nursing care, including prenatal, postnatal, and reproductive health care.
Research & Scholarly Activity:
Engage in research related to obstetric and gynecological nursing, maternal health, and newborn care.
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at professional conferences.
Collaborate with other faculty members and researchers on interdisciplinary projects.
Participate in the development of research proposals and grant applications.
Curriculum Development & Innovation:
Assist in the review, development, and continuous improvement of the OBG nursing curriculum.
Integrate the latest evidence-based practices and innovations in teaching and patient care into the curriculum.
Stay updated with current trends, technologies, and advancements in obstetric and gynecological nursing.
Professional Development:
Participate in faculty meetings, workshops, and conferences to enhance teaching skills and stay updated in the field.
Engage in professional development activities and maintain relevant certifications (e.g., Registered Nurse, Nurse Educator certification, etc.).
Student Support and Mentorship:
Provide academic advising and career counseling to students.
Offer guidance on research projects and thesis work for postgraduate students.
Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Service to the Institution:
Participate in departmental and institutional committees, meetings, and other activities as required.
Contribute to institutional initiatives that promote the development of nursing education and healthcare standards.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing or equivalent.
A valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, with certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing preferred.
Experience:
At least [2-5] years of experience in clinical practice, preferably in a teaching or academic environment.
Experience in supervising and mentoring nursing students in clinical settings.
A proven track record of research and scholarly activity in the field of OBG nursing is desirable.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of obstetric and gynecological nursing practices and patient care.
Excellent teaching, communication, and interpersonal skills.
