The Assistant Professor in Nursing is responsible for effective classroom and clinical teaching, mentoring students, and supporting research and academic activities of the college. The role demands dedication to high-quality education, skill development, and professional ethics in accordance with the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and University standards.
Plan and deliver classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction for undergraduate and/or postgraduate nursing students.
Prepare and update lesson plans, teaching materials, and evaluation tools as per INC and University syllabi.
Conduct internal assessments, assignments, and tutorials to monitor student progress.
Supervise students during clinical postings and community health experiences.
Assist in guiding students' research projects and seminars.
Incorporate innovative teaching-learning methods including simulation and digital tools.
Participate in curriculum development and continuous academic improvement initiatives.
B. Research & Professional Development
Engage in research and scholarly activities relevant to nursing practice and education.
Present papers in conferences and publish articles in recognized journals.
Support student and departmental research projects.
Pursue continuing education and professional growth through workshops, conferences, and courses.
C. Administrative & Institutional Duties
Serve as class coordinator or member of academic/administrative committees (e.g., IQAC, Examination Cell, Discipline Committee, etc.).
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and academic progress.
Assist in documentation and preparation for inspections by INC, State Nursing Council, or University.
Support institutional quality assurance, accreditation, and community outreach activities.
Coordinate with faculty and clinical staff for smooth conduct of academic and clinical programs.
D. Clinical & Community Responsibilities
Supervise and assess students' clinical performance in hospitals, PHCs, CHCs, and community settings.
Demonstrate and maintain high standards of nursing practice and patient care.
Participate in community health programs, camps, and extension activities.
Foster a professional and ethical environment for learning and patient care.
3. Qualification & Experience (As per Indian Nursing Council norms)
QualificationExperience
M.Sc. Nursing
(in relevant specialty) from an institution recognized by INC
3 years
of teaching experience after M.Sc. Nursing
Specialties:
Medical-Surgical Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing, etc.
(Ph.D. in Nursing is desirable but not mandatory.)
