The Department of History and Archaeology, School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence (Deemed to be University) invites applications for faculty positions as per the details mentioned below.

The applications are invited for the position of Assistant Professor for the following areas in the order of priority:

Scientific applications in Archaeology, broadly defined

Anthropological archaeology and Heritage

Archaeology of northern South Asia

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates with PhD (completed) from any recognized university of repute in India or abroad.


The Department has a range of scholarship in South Asian history and archaeology, spanning all time-periods. We seek applicants that complement the archaeology faculty's ongoing research and teaching, while bringing in specific strengths in areas listed above, but are not limited to the above list. The Department welcomes scholars who will teach in a rigorous and innovative undergraduate program, guide doctoral research scholars and contribute to the long-term growth of the Department.

The application package must contain the following items*:

A Cover-letter outlining the interest and summary of the reasons for ing to the position (no more than 2 pages)

Teaching statement (must also include a sample undergraduate level course and a sample post-graduate level course, complete with readings/plan of lectures) (no more than 2 pages)

Research Statement (must also include ongoing and future research plans)

Latest full CV Copy of an original, peer-reviewed published paper

Candidates with PhD need to provide a copy of the PhD degree
