Job Description

The Assistant Professor in OTAT will be responsible for teaching undergraduate (and possibly postgraduate) courses in Operation Theater Technology and Anesthesia Technology. The role includes academic instruction, clinical training supervision, curriculum development, research, and participation in departmental activities.

Key Responsibilities:Teaching & Academic Duties



Teach core and elective subjects related to operation theater technology, surgical procedures, and anesthesia techniques. Develop course materials, lab manuals, and assessments in accordance with university curriculum guidelines. Supervise students during practical sessions, simulation labs, and clinical postings in hospitals. Evaluate student performance through internal assessments, viva, practical exams, and theory exams. Guide students in their research projects, seminars, and case studies.

Clinical Supervision



Coordinate with hospitals or affiliated clinical training centers for student postings. Ensure students adhere to OT protocols, infection control, and patient safety norms during clinical training. Monitor and assess students' hands-on performance in OT and anesthesia procedures.

Research & Professional Development



Engage in scholarly research and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Attend and present at professional conferences and seminars. Collaborate on interdisciplinary research projects in surgical technology and anesthesia.

Administrative & Departmental Duties



Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and academic planning. Serve on academic and administrative committees as assigned. Contribute to organizing workshops, CME (Continuing Medical Education), and other academic events.

Qualifications & Requirements:



Educational Qualifications:



Master's degree in Operation Theater Technology, Anesthesia Technology, or a related Allied Health/Medical Technology field. B.Sc. in OT/Anesthesia Technology or equivalent background is essential.

Professional Experience:



Minimum 1-3 years of teaching or clinical experience in a recognized institution or hospital. Hands-on experience in OT procedures, anesthesia equipment handling, sterilization techniques, and surgical protocols. Prior experience in academic teaching or lab supervision is an advantage.

Other Skills:



Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to use modern teaching tools, simulation technology, and LMS (Learning Management Systems). Commitment to student mentoring, professional ethics, and academic integrity.
