We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to join our faculty team as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities and English at our engineering college. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in English Language Teaching (ELT), Communication Skills, and Technical Writing, with a focus on equipping engineering students with the language and communication competencies necessary for academic and professional success.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum Development
Deliver lectures and tutorials in English, Communication Skills, and Technical Writing.
Develop and update course syllabi to align with industry requirements and university standards.
Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that cater to diverse learning needs.
Student Support and Mentoring
Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students, fostering their personal and professional growth.
Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions to enhance students' soft skills and employability.
Research and Scholarship
Engage in research activities in the fields of ELT, linguistics, communication, or related areas.
Publish research findings in reputed journals and present at conferences.
Administrative Responsibilities
Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum design, and academic planning.
Assist in organizing events, cultural programs, and co-curricular activities that promote language and communication skills.
Collaboration and Professional Development
Collaborate with faculty across disciplines to integrate communication skills into technical curricula.
Stay updated with advancements in teaching methodologies and tools for effective language instruction.
Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Qualification:
Master's degree in English, Linguistics, ELT, or a related field. A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline is preferred.
Experience:
Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate or postgraduate level is desirable.
Experience in teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) or English for Engineers will be an advantage.
Skills:
Proficiency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Familiarity with digital tools and e-learning platforms for language teaching.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary academic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in TESOL, TEFL, or related areas.
Research publications in indexed journals.
Experience in conducting workshops or training programs for students.
