Job Title: Assistant Professor - English (ESL Certified)

Job Summary:

The Assistant Professor of English will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate English courses, with a focus on

English as a Second Language (ESL)

instruction. The role involves developing students' language proficiency, communication skills, academic writing, and critical thinking, while contributing to curriculum development, research, and academic activities of the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

Teach

English language, literature, communication skills, and ESL courses

as assigned Design and deliver

ESL-focused lesson plans

to support non-native English speakers Assess student performance through exams, assignments, presentations, and projects Develop and update curriculum in alignment with ESL and academic standards Provide academic mentoring, language support, and remedial classes for students Participate in departmental meetings, faculty development programs, and academic committees Engage in

research, publications, and conferences

as per institutional requirements Support extracurricular, literary, and language lab activities Maintain academic records and adhere to university/UGC guidelines
Eligibility & Qualifications:

Master's Degree in

English / Applied Linguistics / TESOL / ELT

or related field (minimum 55% or as per norms)

ESL / TESOL / TEFL Certification

(mandatory or preferred) NET/SET/SLET qualification (as per UGC or university requirements) PhD in English or related field (preferred) Prior teaching experience in ESL or higher education is an advantage
Skills & Competencies:

Strong command of English language (spoken and written) Expertise in ESL methodologies and learner-centered teaching Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills Ability to work with diverse and multicultural student groups Proficiency in using digital tools, LMS, and language labs Research aptitude and academic writing skills
Preferred Attributes:

Experience in teaching international or ESL learners Publications in reputed journals Exposure to blended or online teaching methods
