Role Profile

The Platform Manager will play the pivotal role of partnering with the Data Lake Factory, Solution Factory and Market teams to drive the adoption of Azure best practices as defined by/with the Solution Architecture team. This role will drive a step change in the standardization, cost effectiveness, performance, reliability, and resilience of the solutions being delivered by the market and factory teams and ensure automation is built in as standard to drive \xe2\x80\x9cno touch\xe2\x80\x9d environments.

Key Accountabilities
  • Own and manage the I&AF Tech Platforms \xe2\x80\x93 Intelligent Automation, UCIP, PMRS and Innovations.
  • Set up and run a central framework for infrastructure management, cost reduction and
security controls for the said platforms.
  • Work in partnership with delivery teams to assess and drive adherence to best practice architectures across Unilever\xe2\x80\x99s data and analytics estates.
  • Support optimal solution design by working closely with third party project delivery architects.
  • Guide projects in which design best practices for the use cases being delivered.
  • Support devops teams to undertake regular security reviews/audits, identify risks and implement remediation plans.
  • Assess efficiency, cost structure and actual cost of the platform to reduce the TCO of the estate.
  • Adopt new approved tools and define best practices for cost optimization on Cloud.
  • Work with delivery teams to ensure all solutions built include resilience and DR plans are fully documented and dry run scenarios are tested regularly.
  • Identify areas for automation targeting \xe2\x80\x9cone click\xe2\x80\x9d failover in the event of DR; implementing fault tolerance in job schedules etc.
  • Identify & report risks related to security, resilience, and quality of Azure product services.
  • Collaborate with architecture, SMEs, landscape team etc to ensure timely mitigation of risks.
  • Build and use frameworks and templates for central initiatives, which are sharable across use cases \xe2\x80\x93 eg reusable code blocks, to support data quality, job management framework etc.
  • Contribute to community of practice to share best practice, identify gaps in understanding and create an internal accreditation.
  • Work in partnerships with supplier DevOps teams. Drive standardization in ways of working across multiple suppliers to ensure the standardization of code development, testing approach and performance best practices.
  • Carry out assessment/audits and work with external auditors, where required.

Essential Experience
  • E2E Design expertise in BI solutions and Big Data/EDW, front-end and ETL
  • Detailed knowledge of Azure technologies and architectures to support reporting and analytical solutions.
  • Experience of assessment of delivery for design and architectural standards from solution and infrastructure perspective is desirable.
  • Experience of working with multi-disciplinary team, in a matrix environment.
  • Good functional knowledge to be able work with SMEs, delivery managers and technical resources.
  • Experience of security related technical matters is desirable.
  • Proactive attitude to learning and exploring new developments in the field of cloud / Azure which is beneficial to Unilever.

  • Proficient in co-ordination, reporting, and management of own deliverables.
