Assistant Manager - Production (Wood Industry)

Production Manager / Plant Head

Job Purpose:

To assist in planning, coordinating, and supervising production activities in the wood manufacturing unit, ensuring efficient operations, quality standards, timely delivery, and optimal resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Control

Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules. Monitor production workflow and adjust schedules as needed. Ensure availability of raw materials, tools, and manpower.

2. Operations Management

Supervise production processes such as cutting, machining, assembling, polishing, and finishing. Coordinate with design and engineering teams for new product development. Ensure adherence to production targets, quality standards, and timelines.

3. Quality Assurance

Implement quality checks at every stage of production. Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications. Work with the QA team to reduce rework and wastage.

4. People Management

Supervise and guide supervisors, operators, and shop floor staff. Conduct training on production techniques, safety, and equipment handling. Motivate team members to achieve productivity and quality goals.

5. Process Improvement

Identify areas for efficiency improvement and cost reduction. Suggest automation or process upgrades in woodworking machinery. Implement lean manufacturing and 5S practices on the shop floor.

6. Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. Monitor safe use of machinery like CNC routers, panel saws, edge banding machines, etc. Maintain records of safety audits and incident reports.

7. Coordination & Reporting

Liaise with procurement, design, maintenance, and logistics teams. Maintain production records, downtime analysis, and daily MIS reports. Report key issues and progress to the Production Manager.

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹55,000.00 per month
